Welcome! Anna and Valery are here to join Joshua in the Bold Miniatures lineup. Both miniatures are 75mm scale and sculpted by the talented James W Cain. They are full of detail, while also having large cloth areas that serve as a blank canvas giving enough room to experiment with patterns and structure.
Bold#2 Anna is based on Katya Gudkina's concept, "Gitanna", chosen by the backers of our last campaign. She is an archer in a less cliché pose, and we are very proud of how she looks calm and menacing at the same time. The pictures you see below are casts without gap filling. Anna comes unassembled and consists of 7 parts, 9 counting the scenery piece.
Bold#3 Valery is based on a concept commissioned to Katherine Zhuk. She's the talented artist behind Joshua's art concept. Valery is the first miniature where we had a say in the look of the character. The goal was to get a mischievous girl to accompany Anna on her adventures. Valery comes unassembled and consists of 11 parts, 13 counting the alternative heads.
Lastly, our previous release, Bold#1 Joshua, will also be available to choose in any of the pledges during the campaign. His price is the same as for Anna and Valery, which means that he costs significantly less than in the webshop.
All humans are not as tall, and so, our miniatures are not either. They all share a scale, but they differ a bit in size. Here is a comprehensive comparison of all of them.
75mm scale is too big for you? Don't you worry! For the first time, we will also offer the STL files of our miniatures. If you would like to print Anna or Valery in a smaller (or bigger) scale for your D&D campaign or modify it into a bust, we have a pledge level for you.
We recommend using a resin printer to achieve the best results. We have tested these files in a Form2 and a Phrozen Shuffle. We have not tested them in FDM printers.
Important note: Joshua's files are not included in this pledge level, only Anna's and Valery's.
As you may know we at Bold Miniatures put a lot of effort not only in the design of our miniatures but also in the packaging and presentation. This time we are bringing custom boxes for each miniature as well as some very cool stickers to go along with them.
And to match their forest theme, both Anna and Valery come on a fluffy bed of reindeer Norwegian moss, that you can use as basing material later on ;)
You can pledge for the 3D printing files or the actual physical miniatures. If you go for the miniatures, decide how many you would like to get, and then choose that reward. The more miniatures you get, the cheaper they get.
We have prepared an approximate conversion to euro and the most demanded currencies for all pledge levels since by default they show up in SEK, our local currency. (These are approximate conversions by the time of writing).
If you go for the physical miniatures, after the campaign ends and funds are collected, you will receive a survey where you will be able to choose which miniatures you would like to receive. You will be able to choose between #1 Joshua, #2 Anna and #3 Valery. You can also select the same miniature several times.
Do you want more than three miniatures? Send us a message, and we'll be happy to add a reward for it. Shipping cost won't be higher than the 3x pledge, regardless of the number of miniatures you buy, so if you want to share that cost with a friend, this is an excellent option.
This time production takes place in-house! As one step forward in establishing Bold Miniatures as a brand, we decided that it would be a wise move to take production into our own hands. Considering that art concepts and sculpts are outsourced, taking care of this part of the process allows us to lower prices while maintaining the quality of our product.
We have set up a workshop with all required equipment to cast your pledges right away. If the campaign goes well, we will purchase more equipment so that we can reduce production times. The main advantage of this approach is that there is no waiting time to cast your pledges. The downside is that it is a bit slower than an established caster. However, we estimate shipping around 20 pledges a month, starting in November.
As soon as the campaign ends, we will start casting. We have the first batch of molds ready, so we literally will begin casting right away. We will produce the rewards in pledge order so we can do continuous shipping. Check the shipping section for more details.
A small batch of miniatures has been produced already to be sold at SMC this year. It will be our first time attending a convention, so we wanted to make sure we had something to show.
Note: All Joshua models will be casted by CMA Creative Solutions, just like last time.
This time we won't be using a fulfillment center. The packages will be sent directly from our workshop, located in Sweden. We have also managed to lower shipping costs considerably in comparison to our last campaign while keeping it EU and US friendly.
Now that production and shipping take place in-house, there is no need to wait for a full production before sending your rewards. That's why, starting mid-November, every two weeks, we will ship all the pledges that are ready to go, in strict pledge order*. This process should help you getting your rewards earlier if you are an early backer, and it also helps us with logistics. We estimate that for a reasonable amount of pledges, all of them should have shipped by March 2020.
*Important note regarding SMC: if you are attending SMC (Scale Model Challenge) this year, send us a message, and we will try to have your copy ready for the show. In that case, you can come and collect it, and we will reimburse the shipping cost. This is the only exception on the delivery order for the pledges.
The goal of this campaign is to finish establishing Bold Miniatures as a player in our little hobby. The first campaign served as a way to get one foot in, we learned a lot, and we were able to plan how we wanted to move forward. We've rented a workshop and purchased the necessary equipment to produce our casts. We have spent most of the year learning the trade, hence the full year between last campaign and this one. We want now to improve even more by being able to cast more, be more efficient in the way we ship items, and be able to produce more miniatures in a shorter time. For more specifics on why we need your support check this list:
- To improve the said workshop, which involves renting a better workspace, more equipment, more time put into casting.
- To officially register Bold Miniatures as a trading company.
- To start producing the next miniature(s) right away.
- To be able to release our future miniatures regularly, without depending on Kickstarter, also more frequently than once a year.
Risks and challenges
So what happens if the campaign goes viral and we have 500 pledges to produce? While that's highly improvable, it would be awesome! Second, while we do not have the means to produce 500 pledges within a respectable amount of time, we would then resource back to our previous caster, CMA Creative solutions, to take care of it. They did an amazing job with Joshua and we know they are a reliable caster. If we receive this many pledges we would also consider using again GamesQuest as fulfillment center to ship your rewards. These are our plan B in case of an overwhelming amount of pledges. So don't worry, everyone will get their pledge in time.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
