About this project
Bodypainting Day is a non-commercial public art event produced by Andy Golub and Young Naturists America. A large group of artists paint on the bodies of nude models over a 4 hour period in full public view. This summer we plan on holding 2 events.
New York City Bodypainting Day will take place on July 9th at Dag Hammarskjold Plaza. 100 artists will paint 100 models followed by a march through the public streets and 3 double-decker buses showing off our work with the rest of the city.
Amsterdam Bodypainting Day will take place on August 20th at Museumplein. The event will more than double in size to 50 artists and 50 models followed by a march and a canal boat ride through the city.
There are a wide variety of costs including fees to rent the space, tents, risers for public view, promotions and signage, supplies, security and event staff, website and social media.
Bodypainting Day has many benefits. It offers a platform for true artistic expression and freedom of speech for a live audience of many thousands and millions more through press and social media. This year’s theme, “Inner Beauty”, encourages artists to seek inspiration from within their model's energy and personality as they create their art.
The models of Bodypainting Day are ordinary people that are diverse in age, race, body type and gender. Past models have ranged in age from late teens to people in their 70's. They've been thin, plus-size and everything in between. They've been male, female and transgender. We've also had people with various health conditions, such as cancer and cerebral palsy. The opportunity to become living art is an empowering experience that is a source of inspiration as it is shared with the public.
It is an opportunity for people to see in person, the diverse artistic approaches interacting with various body types. Bodypainting Day always challenges the perception of beauty promoted by commercial media.
This year, the theme itself is "Inner Beauty," and we can't wait to see the visuals that will be shared on this special day.
