When it comes to high performance sports, every single second is crucial. Controlled performance based on accurate biometric readings can make or break a race.
Atalanta is the only wearable device to use NIRS (Near-Infrared Spectroscopy) integrated with anatomical design in order to provide you with ultra precise data.
Atalanta is packed with technology and design features that no other device has in the sports market
Atalanta was designed with the human body in mind, and the base and main inspiration was the female body, but why? Almost 100% of current wearable technology targets mainly male athletes, and despite this fact it is still rather uncomfortable for both men and women.
We've designed a device that fits comfortably on the ribcage with a sleek and unique shape. Atalanta uses medical grade silicone that is sturdy enough to deliver a reliable performance but will not dig into the body. An all round device for high performance pros and amateurs alike.

Why do we use NIRS vs electrodes and green light? Near-Infrared Spectroscopy is non invasive and highly reliable. Our athletes deserve the best and we have worked to develop biometric wearable that answers the call to high performance athletes.
Current devices use electrodes and green light amongst other old-school sensor technology, with its drawbacks of:
- Connectivity loss
- Data loss
- No onboard memory
- Wide use of algorithmic estimation
- Contact loss thus imprecise heart rate
- Imprecise pulse due to use of green light technology
- Imprecise measuring places (wrist, head, electrodes on chest)
The idea for Atalanta was conceived by one of our founders, Oscar Acosta, a former pro-triathlete forced into early retirement due to an injury from overtraining. Two decades following his athletic retirement, he still had the itch for triathlons and began searching for the best biometric wearable device on the market.
Assuming the advances of technology over the past 20 years, he expected to find a wearable that truly meets the rigorous demands of a high performance athlete. He was greatly disappointed with his findings. An industrial designer by profession with expertise in ergonomic and human factors, he decided to design the ultimate biometric wearable device worthy of a high performance athlete. From this vision, Atalanta was born.
After three years of constant and careful development by a killer team of experts and professionals we are at the threshold of production. We left nothing to chance, we did not rush or hasten the design and development to deliver a device that we're proud of.
Our functioning prototype is completed and we are ready to make the mold to form our first device.
We currently have reached the following milestones
To make it happen we need...
We know that we've developed a super cool hardcore device that will satisfy the most demanding Pro or amateur athlete, whether you swim, cycle, run or "tri" we're sure that Atalanta will give you that special edge to help you compete at the highest level.
Risks and challenges
At Body M3canix, we hold a philosophy of honesty and transparency towards our customers, so in that spirit we can share the following points that we have identified as potentially disruptive:
1. Product Development;
The Atalanta device has already reached design and development maturity and no further hardware and coding remain to be done and
preliminary testing and prototyping has been carried out. Production line establishment is the next step. Plans are in place and will be executed within the next two months. As with all production processes, challenges may arise.
2. Delivery times;
Even though we pride ourselves on our precision and preparation, things can get delayed, either due to technical challenges or supply chain difficulties, but rest assured that we have set alternative plans to address any delay and setback to bring production and delivery back on-line as fast as possible to keep distributing on a timely manner.
We have projected rollout dates that start at the end of March, but as with any innovative product some delays might be expected, rest assured that even though it might take a bit longer, your Atalanta will arrive at your doorstep on due time.
3. Application updates;
Almost every wearable device has an accompanying application that helps the owner manage the device, such applications have inevitable bugs and adjustments, as with these applications, Atalanta’s proprietary application will go through improvements through its life. At Body M3canix, since we developed our proprietary application, we have a team of dedicated coders and app developers led by our CCO that will tackle any issue that might arise in a clean swift manner.
4. Personal data protection;
At Body M3canix we take personal privacy very seriously, that is why we are working with FBI and CSIS (Canadian Security Intelligence Service) certified cyber specialists to ensure that every profile entrusted to our care will remain protected.
We do not share, sell or distribute any of the personal data of our clients. Your data remains your data, you are in control of its distribution, the only way that your data can be shared is if you decide to share with your friends and family through your personal social media platform, and at the end of the day those would be only snippets, since the gross bulk is only accessible to you.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your trust and support, and to welcome you to this amazing endeavor. We consider ourselves lucky to count you as our supporter, we will make it worth your trust.
With kind regards,
Oscar J. Acosta
