Frequently Asked Questions
We will not offer a TRUE left handed Boaz One guitars during this campaign. Manufacturing left handed Boaz One guitars almost double the investment we would require. The purpose of this campaign is to help us build a viable company - so we took the hard decision to first, cater to the majority of players ( right handed ).
However, we also took the decision to offer a limited number of left handed Boaz One for a reduced price once we ship and fullfil our comitment to this original campaign's backers.
We will offer left handed nut and bridges for those left handed players who do not mind playing the Jimi Hendrix wayLast updated:
guitars eventually wear down and require fret grinding and polishing, and I'm not sure a local luthier would be ready to service a guitar like this. How would you solve the idea of more advanced service jobs?
We have a 5-6 year old former prototype that has gone thru rigorous playing and abuse over the years - and it is practically without damage!
Having said that, we cannot say that the fingerboard/frets are indestructibe. Constant aggressive playing MIGHT damage the frets even though we have not experienced it yet.
As for a possible fret job. Boaz is working on a kit for technicians who would be interested in some day servicing the Boaz One.
With this kit it wouldn't take more than an hour ( and I am being careful here ) for the tech to service the frets.
Also, please remember that The Core ( without the body and pickup module and bridge ) is extremely inexpensive and will cost as much or even less ( and I am being careful again ) than a regular refretting job!
If you need to refret we can swap your core guitar out for much less than a standard refret would normally cost. There is also a natural lubricating quality to the type of polycarbonate that we are using and we suspect this has a lot to do with the results we are seeing on the original prototypes. Amazingly they have all been heavily played and none of them show any fret wear at all.Last updated:
You should take in consideration the guitar will be made in Israel, and Israel has free-trade agreements with many countries, including:
All EU (And UK after BREXIT)
If you reside in any of these countries, import taxes (customs) should not apply, at least as far as we understand and checked until this point. You may however be subject to VAT which may apply in your country without regard to the product source.
For other countries we advice you to check specifically if and what import tax may apply. As a startup in a middle of a campaign we don't currently have the capacity to check that specifically in more than 100 other countries, talking in countless languages. If you have or will check that, we will very much appreciate that if you could share that with us in the comments page or in our Facebook campaign group https://www.facebook.com/groups/boazoneigg/ In this case we would also appreciate that if you could share relevant link(s) so that other backer from your country may look for themselves.Last updated:
At some initial publications, including the kickstarter video, one may notice a Boaz ONE body equipped with an internal speaker. This is not fake, we do have a working prototype of that body. However, we are currently unsatisfied with the performance of the speaker body, and hence decided not to provide it as part of the rewards at the current campaign.
Much discussion on the issue was made internally on the Boaz ISI Ltd. team and with external consultants. Some of it is also reflected at the Boaz ONE Technical Group on Facebook, for those who are interested.
When a speaker body will be be available all backers will be update about that and as backers of this initial campaign will get a special price.Last updated:
Several supporters requested having a so-called "blank-pickup" in which one may install ones own pickup.
It should be understood this is not that simple from a technical point of view. It is an electrical apparatus. We need it to be safe. We need it to maintain high quality. We need it to not create electromagnetic interference. We need it to create a great sound.
Hence, we did not announce having such option yet, but it is discussed and, unless unforeseeable problems will stand in our way, we will announce a solution for that in the next few month.
When such module will be be available all backers will be update about that and as backers of this initial campaign will get a special price.Last updated:
As our campaign end near the end of the month, a few backers asked us if they could delay he payment to early next month. We tried to work this out with Kickstarter, but after some discussion we understood this is not possible for them. To cite it exactly:
" It's not possible to schedule the collection period into next month, but if the payment is declined, the backer will have 7 days from end of campaign to fix the payment (i.e. retry the card.)"
Then they sent us an explanation about payment collection, which we are publishing some short-edited parts of, that are more relevant for backers:
Payment Collection Process
When a project ends KS start a 7-day pledge collection process. On the first day KS attempt to process all pledges. It is normal for some pledges to fail KS first collection attempt, so they continue trying.
If a pledge fails to collect, KS send backers periodic email reminders, and display an “Action Needed” banner when they log into the Kickstarter account from which they pledged. By following the link on any of these communications, backers are guided through the following steps to resolve their payment issues:
1. Check that you entered a valid credit card number and the correct expiration date.
2. Make sure the card has not expired.
3. Confirm that your billing information is correct.
4. Make sure you haven't exceeded the credit limit on your card.
If your backers are reaching out to you about these types of issues, feel free to provide them this information and ask them to reach out to our support team at www.kickstarter.com/contact.Last updated:
First, an apology for understanding that late that there are good reasons to be confused and even then, taking some time until acting. But now it’s here.
Second, an explanation of “odd” difference in the rewards:
Once even one backer is pledging for a certain reward, the content and prices of that reward cannot be changed. At some point, our team decided and announced (post factum – really unclear) that it is adding the Plastic Bridge and Winged Body to the Advanced and Premium bundles, for free. Now, this was after there was already backers to the super-early and early rewards, so they could not change what is written in the rewards themselves and left those as is. This was with a really good intention but really unclear, so we apologize for being unclear and hope you will forgive us because we are giving you some freebees here.
Every Advanced and Premium bundle will include for free the Plastic Bridge and a Winged Body backer are free to choose (top or dual). If anyone pledged for those, one may adjust the pledge accordingly, or we will later refund him by other stuff (not cash), or he can dedicate it as a donation to good causes (we will collect those extras and use it for good, not in the company).
Now comes the best part – as we worked to clarify all that, we built an Excel file, which is clarifying everything about all the bundles, all the possible parts in each, including prices and a dedicated calculator. So if you now want to understand and decide exactly what you want and pledge accordingly, you should just use this Excel file, which you may download right here:
Now let us explain how it works – make sure you only write at the yellow cells in line 3:
1. Download the excel file to your device, while creating your own copy of the file at the link (Do not try to edit the file at the Google Drive). Open the Excel file.
1.1. If you do not have access to Excel:
Please open a google sheet with the following link:
after opening the link the file it normally opens in Google Sheets as a view only file. You have to be signed in to a Google account to continue and make a copy. If you are not signed in, please sign in now. Now, go to the "File" menu, and click "Make a Copy" after a few seconds you have your own file and may continue to the next step.
2. Find the bundle you pledged for or intend to at column A
3. Find the number of that bundle at column B
4. Copy that number to cell B3 (“Your Choice” line).
5. You will now see at line 2 what your bundle includes before any possible changes.
6. You can now change the content of the bundle by specifying numbers at the yellow cells of line 3. If you do that you must fill everything, as needed. Line 3 does not take data from line 2. You can specify anything reasonable – you can take more or less bodies and even more core guitars. Use only integer numbers – no fractions please.
7. After you finish specifying, you get the total amount to be pledged in the green cell C3.
8. Adjust your pledge accordingly. Please note the numbers at the spreadsheet does not include shipping. You have to add $30 for shipping to whatever sum you got.
If you have a problem with adjusting your pledge or with any other issue, please let us know as soon as possible to: Ehud Shavit at firstname.lastname@example.org
One more issue – if you go down the excel file you will see some cells that are painted orange – those are the parts that were missing in the early Advanced and Premium bundles.Last updated:
