Champions of Nexum is a MOBA-inspired game that pits two sides against each other in epic combat. Able to accommodate both player vs. player and team vs. team (up to eight players), an average game lasts between 60 and 90 minutes.
Our Miniatures are in 38mm scale, to provide better detail and painting experience.
Players collaborate with their teammates in an effort to reach and destroy their opponent’s castle. Over the course of a game, their Heroes will engage in many battles and complete numerous quests. The Victory Points gained from these will enable them to destroy the Guard Towers protecting the opposing Castle and ultimately assault it directly.
Throughout the game you’ll traverse the lanes and combat increasingly dangerous monsters such as the Behemoth and possibly, if we hit the stretch goal, the deadly Crystal Dragon.
Champions of Nexum uses a variety of cards in gameplay. Spells, artifacts, and location-specific events are all beautifully illustrated and help add to the replayability of the game. High-quality translucent, acrylic tokens make up the crystals which are the main form of currency.
While a good rulebook can be worth its weight in gold, there are many that benefit from instructional videos as well. We are happy to offer such a video explaining the rules of Champions of Nexum. In addition to English, the video is available in French, German, and Polish.
The game has been playtested at many conventions and in the Tabletop Simulator. Various questions and comments arose in those tests, and we analyzed and considered each piece of feedback we received. The rulebook has been modified to be as user-friendly as possible, and we present you with our beta version. Please note that this is not final, and an additional round of edits will be made before we go into production.
Below is a review of Champions of Nexum, and we look forward to adding additional ones as the campaign progresses.
"It’s the first MOBA board game I really enjoyed. Especially, after playing it on some european conventions. I like how one session lasts just enough not to make you fall asleep, which was the main problem with other board MOBAs." ~ Loodo Ninja
"'Champions of Nexum' awakens in players the same amazing emotions as online video games in which users join in teams and in real time fight in the arena (so-called MOBA type games)." ~ Epoch Times
"Tons of minis, and gameplay that’s different from all co-op / skirmish titles overflowing Kickstarter as of late, might make it into something truly special." ~ Kick Agency
"A powerful dose of emotions! This is game implements MOBA genre very well. The game is dynamic and has very affordable rules. Every time you play Champions of Nexum, game will look completely different." ~ On Table
"Champions of Nexum is colourful, streamlined and a great take on MOBA games. Plus, the production quality is outstanding!" ~ Cardboard Rihno
Champions of Nexum is a MOBA game at heart.
We began this project over three years ago, with the goal of creating a MOBA-like board game that could give players what they love most about videos games from that genre. In trying to capture the emotion and atmosphere these games create, we tested Champions of Nexum with both board game players and professional MOBA players.
To be faithful to its MOBA origins, we’ve designed the flow of Champions of Nexum to replicate some of the staple aspects of MOBA titles. Monsters arrive in increasingly stronger waves and special spots on the map offer various challenges to complete and gain rewards. Characters have unique skill sets and can gain new equipment. The team must work together to find synergy between their different skillsets. Champions of Nexum also uses a lot of well-known humor and nomenclature from the PC video games, further adding to the MOBA-like atmosphere.
We spent the better part of the last three years testing the game with hundreds of people. We took it to local gaming stores, enlisted our friends and families, traveled to major tabletop gaming conventions and played it virtually on the Tabletop Simulator. These tests had a tremendous influence in the development of the game, as many rules were altered and tweaked according to fantastic player suggestions.
The community’s involvement didn’t end there. Our social media channels have been very active, and creative people helped us to name our monsters, characters, and even individual skills. Many of these made it into the final game, and we’re happy that so many got to share in the creative process with us.
We invite you to create your own characters. Visit our website to design the next Heroes of Nexum with their own individual skills and characteristics. Customize your hero’s name, looks, skills and characteristics and send the next Champion of Nexum into battle.
If we reach the soundtrack stretch goal, each Champions of Nexum game will come with a soundtrack to help create a more immersive experience. You can listen to a sample below:
We’d like to support store owners and board game retailers by making the Kickstarter Version of Champions of Nexum available to you in this campaign. The minimum order is six copies, and applicable Add-ons and Stretch Goals will be included. Topic: „CoN Retailer Order” to email@example.com
If Champions of Nexum doesn’t meet your expectations, you can return it to us with one month of receipt for a full pledge refund (minus Kickstarter fees), no questions asked!
Please note that the pledge does not include shipping costs. These will be assessed after the Kickstarter ends in the Pledge Manager.
The game will be in one box and you receive with applicable Stretch Goals and Add-Ons in a single shipment estimated to arrive around March of 2020. Our listed shipping costs are estimates, and these may change based on weight increases from Stretch Goals or changes in shipping charges over time. We will do our best to keep these costs these costs as low as possible while still providing quality shipping services. We do not charge any additional fees for processing the shipping, the costs we pay are the costs you do.
Our game has already been produced with resin miniatures and should transition smoothly to production in PVC. Our conservative delivery date (based on what we’ve observed with other projects) is March 2020, but we are optimistic they may arrive even earlier than that. Due to the size of the rewards and the risk of return, we cannot ship to PO Boxes domestically or internationally. Our backers in Poland will have the option to pick up their packages from us directly.
Risks and challenges
Champions of Nexum is a project with many elements, making it quite the ambitious undertaking. We do, however, already have a project that is production-ready. We’ve made dozens of Champions of Nexum complete prototypes with full sets of miniatures that we cast from resin. Because of that we have been able to measure, weigh, and plan everything that will go into the creation of this game with a high degree of accuracy.
Until we fund the production agreement with the manufacturer, we will offer a refund (minus Kickstarter and payment processing fees) on Champions of Nexum. Once the production agreement is paid for, we will not be able to offer a refund.
One of the biggest threats for any Kickstarter project is delivery. As such, we have chosen a professional company that will handle every stage of the delivery process.
Please note this is not a pre-order, and the final project may be slightly changed or delayed. We promise to keep you informed at every stage of the project. If a change is necessary, we will discuss it in detail with the community.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
