In I Hate Zombies., designed by acclaimed game designer, Kevin WIlson, 2-12 players face off in a climactic battle for the very fate of the world that will last about 10 minutes. Some of the players will be the noble last survivors of humanity, while others will be dirty, wretched brain-guzzling zombies. To see who survives, they will engage in that time-honored tradition, that Sport of Kings...
Yes, that's right. Rock-Paper-Scissors. To the Death!
Although the valiant humans each have a special ability to aid them in their struggle to survive, the zombies are tougher to kill, and humans they kill turn into more zombies, and certainly let us not forget the spleen-churning stench.
While the game could be succinctly described as Rock-Paper-Scissors with special abilities, the abilities add some interesting decision making for the zombie players as to which humans to focus their brain munching beam on, and when. So, while the game uses the RPS mechanism, there are real and interesting decisions to be made which will have the zombies debating their strategy (or at least as well as their limited mental capacity allows).
If you hate zombies (and you should!), you'll find altogether more zombies than you're comfortable with in I Hate Zombies.

Some of you might absolutely love playing RPS and you're already sold. Awesome, you'll have a great time! However, the rest of you are scratching your head and wondering how this is anything more than repeatedly playing RPS with a scoring system. We think you'll still have a great time, but let's show you a little more...
Granted, the game is a very light party-style game any way you slice it, but the fun of the game really arrives in the special abilities of the human characters, and how they can end up interacting in the game! They can really put the zombie scum in a bind, which is exactly where we like seeing them. So, let's check out the motley crew that will be fending off the horde:
Athlete: The athlete's competitive spirit means he's going to win, and he's going to win a lot! Zombies aren't going to want to mess with him if they can help it.
Biker: The biker is fearless and will step in to sucker punch any zombie that comes near her! The zombies are going to want to take here out before she punches out what little brains they do have.
Bulldog: The bulldog is one serious threat, and may kill a zombie in one chomp! A weakened zombie may find him to be a less risky target, but if a zombie is still in good shape, he may want to avoid this fella.
Businesswoman: Her game function is essentially the same as the bulldog, but she'll beat you with her smarts instead!
Cheerleader: A fairly easy target for the zombies, but if she sticks around, she'll make everyone around her even meaner with her inspiring cheers!
Couple: Strength in numbers! There's two of 'em, so they're twice as hard to kill!
Hunter: The zombies do not want to cross the hunter! Not only will he set his sights on a zombie, but the bullet will fly into another zombie as well!
Nurse: While she may look harmless, her healing abilities are a serious pain in the neck to the zombie horde!
Policeman: The law is going to come down on the zombies HARD! When the policeman gets a shot off on a zombie, he's going to feel it.
Scientist: The pesky scientist has come up with an antidote! Instead of dying, any zombies next to her will regenerate into a full healed human again.
Sniper: The sniper is always looking for a zombie to finish off. He can set his sites on any zombie of his choosing when he wins a fight!
Soldier: The last of the insta-kill trifecta of cards (along with Bulldog and Businesswoman). These abilities are a big risk for zombies, and can also really mess with their heads!
Whichever human (or zombie, should you be so unfortunate) you control, you'll find yourself yelling and cheering for you and your fellow teammates, as the fate of the world hinges on each and every battle! You'll also find many interesting scenarios emerge, as we'll now see...
We totally understand! So far, it's just us project creators telling you how cool the game is, and of course we love it or we wouldn't be making it.

Here's an example of a scenario you might come across in IHZ. Let's pretend you've been duking it out for bit, and it's now zombie A's turn.
Zombie A has previously sustained a wound, meaning attacking the Policeman is a risky move (remember, zombies thankfully die when they take 3 wounds, and the Policeman does two damage if he wins). Attacking the Policeman could spell his doom!
However, attacking the Sniper comes with a big risk as well. Zombie A's incompetent friend, Zombie B, has already taken two wounds. If the Sniper wins, he could choose to finish Zombie B off instead. Worse yet, this means there'd be no one left to finish off that pesky Cheerleader, leaving her uncontested to cheer on the Policeman, a combination deadly enough to make any zombie shudder.
It's almost enough to make you feel sorry for the zombies! Wait, no, never mind. We really hate zombies.
Most importantly, IHZ is fun, and we want it to exist! Have you not been paying attention to anything we've been saying!?! If you like having fun with your friends, pledging for a copy (or two, or three, or five) would be a fun time for you when the game delivers. If the project doesn't fund, there will be one less fun thing in the world!

We want to make IHZ even better! We have some more cool ideas for the game, but bringing them to life isn't without cost. We'd like bigger cards, more cards, and more of Robb's awesome illustrations, which all cost money that we can only afford if they're diluted by economies of scale. So, more copies sold equal more cool things we can add! More specifically, here's what we'd like to do...
Zombie Meeple Marker - $3
For $3, we'll add in a zombie meeple to your pledge rewards! Just add $3 to your pledge for each meeple you would like shipped along with your games! The zombie meeple is great for marking the active zombie, which is especially useful in lower player count games to keep track of which zombie is currently attacking!

Brain Life Point Counters - $5
For just $5 for a set of 24 counters, you can add a set of brain life point counters to your game of IHZ. Just add $5 to your pledge for each bag of brains you would like shipped along with your games!
The game is perfectly playable without these counters, but they definitely add some bling, and are a little neater to play with than the card rotating option.
Please note that the color may not match exactly what is shown in these images, as these are the prototype brains. The shape and size is all set, however!

Risks and challenges
While this will be BGG's first published game, we don't anticipate any large risks or challenges in getting IHZ to you. The reasons being:
1) We've budgeted, budgeted, and budgeted again. The funding goal is enough to pay for the artwork, pay the designer, pay Kickstarter fees, get the games produced and shipped to our warehouse, buy envelopes for shipping, pay our warehouse staff, and pay the final shipping to you.
2) We're working with Ad Magic to produce the games. If you've never heard of them, they also handle the production of a little game called Cards Against Humanity (you may have heard of it, and if you haven't you must live in a cave). So, this isn't Ad Magic's first rodeo! Once I get them the files, they're responsible for the whole production process and getting the games to our warehouse in Texas, which they have done countless times with other games. So, we're letting a solidly proven professional handle all aspects of the process that we're unfamiliar with.
3) We're used to shipping large number of orders from the Geek Store. Our store staff should be able to ship out the orders rather efficiently once the games arrive from Ad Magic!
The main possible delays will be due to the stretch goals and needing Robb to do the extra illustrations for them, which will take some time. However, Robb has been an absolute joy to work with, and has already agreed to take on the extra work should you all make it possible!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
