We love to say our fruits have a story: empowering rural women farmers, we work with over 500 women and a network of nearly 3,000 farmers in Uganda, Kenya, Haiti, Liberia and Jamaica.
Each year, billions of pounds of tropical fruits go to waste in rural communities without the means to sell or preserve them. Mangoes are our favorite, but pineapples, guava, papaya, jackfruit and others go to waste before they make it to the table.
Meanwhile, many women in the rural communities we partner with don't have paid work and are often excluded from loans. And farmers in these communities are often taken advantage of by large fruit companies lying to farmers about prices and manipulating local markets.
So we created Blue Mangoes: an ethically-sourced, 100% organic and all-natural dried fruit lineup that is better for people and the planet. The fruit tastes truly natural because it is dried with the sun using an ancient technique we've modernized. We wait for our fruits to be naturally dried and don't use a single preservative in the process.
A Special Kind of Dried
Packed with vitamins, dried fruits are the healthiest and sweetest snacks around. We use fruits from all across the world and have many species and flavors for each fruit. Because we don't include any additives, our fruits keep their natural colors so you can tell they're 100% real.
Zero preservatives. Absolutely no sugar added. Sourced from only the purest trees.
The best part? Passive solar dried. We don't even use electricity. We improved on an ancient technique for preserving fruits and made it a food-safe, efficient, and zero-emission process.
Passive solar dehydrators aren't new, but we're the first fruit company to use them! Jack is here to walk you through how a passive solar dehydrator works.
What it Means to Buy Blue Mangoes
When you back Blue Mangoes, you're not just buying amazing dried fruit--you're changing livelihoods across the world. By empowering women to have sustainable, local jobs, you provide them with resources to enable them to better care for their families and themselves.
And because of your backing, farmers don't have to waste the majority of their crops. Up-cycling waste from naturally abundant trees and smallholder farms allows rural villages to increase their food security and for farmers to grow their wages.
Increased incomes and better livelihoods is the fuel for building stronger communities. These new incomes are reinvested in healthcare for families, schooling, and community projects. By putting money in the right hands, communities are able to reach new heights.
The Ladies of Broadway are a 13-member women's cooperative in the Acholi region of Northern Uganda. Their dehydrators are at Broadway School: a boarding school for orphaned youth and founded by a former refugee. The Ladies of Broadway help to support students in this program as well as their own families.
Vilaj Mozayik in Haiti is a four-times displaced community trying desperately to fund the move for over 100 families to escape the violence-ridden region of Port-au-Prince to the highlands in Hinche.
The Team Behind Your Fruits
Behind the bag are these friendly folks. Founded by a few rebellious college students in 2016, Blue Mangoes has grown to be a diverse international team speaking over 13 languages. That's right, we counted.
For three years we have built Blue Mangoes into the social enterprise we want it to be. During this time we've been creating the right business model, designing the best dehydrators, and establishing trust with our communities. We won a Wisconsin TV Show and were featured in the news. You can see ... we've grown over these few short years.
What the heck?! You came here for fruits and we're telling you about flour?
Breadfruit flour is a gluten-free flour and is made of 100% organic fruit. It's the only starch in the world that grows from a tree. Think of a potato with the vitamins of fruit.
We're partnered with the Trees That Feed Foundation to bring you the best gluten-free flour in the world. They plant trees across the world and breadfruit is their favorite.

Farm to Table
Knowing where your food comes from is so important. We believe in rekindling the relationship with the people who grow the food we eat. A packaged bag of mystery fruits doesn't cut it.
Every bag of Blue Mangoes fruits and flours have a sticker and QR code called, "Find My Farm." Follow the code and you will be taken to a page on our website built specifically for you to meet the farmers, women, and community behind the delicious dried fruit you're eating.
You can also follow the fruit's journey. The page shows you the entire documented trip from farm to dehydrator to package and then it's journey across the world to you.
You might be wondering how we ensure our products are safe. Fair question, considering we keep bragging about zero electricity and the rural areas our fruits come from.
All of our products are tested, just as everything else you snack on. Our priority is to make sure they meet U.S. standards and are safe to eat. We do not compromise safety for anything. Want more of an explanation? Josh has got you covered:
We're raising the final money we need to pay our farmers for your fruits and to package and ship them to you. Investors' visions for unsustainable growth didn't match with our values: we wouldn't be able to make our promise of transparency and ensure our impact.
Finally, we want to say thank you. Thank you for helping us accomplish our vision of having a real impact on real people's lives all around the world. Because of your backing, we're now all world changers. Thank you.
Risks and challenges
We've worked for three years to build partnerships with communities across the world. Our Kickstarter will help fund the last bit we need to have our fruits packaged and shipped. While we have intentionally set a late date of delivery for our fruits to allow for unexpected delays, it is still possible that fruit may arrive a month or two later because they are farmed. It's a good thing we're already drying them for you!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
