What is Blue Bike?
Blue Bike is a multimedia experience designed to demystify the technology and science that surrounds us and encourage kids to explore and engage it. The Blue Bike Kid Show follows the absurd misadventures of Boyd, EP, & Steve, the time-traveling assistants of legendary inventor Nikola Tesla. Kids will be able to see the show live at schools, science centers, and community events as well as follow the Blue Bike web-series online.
What We’re About:
Blue Bike is designed to inspire and empower children, ages 8-13 to take ownership of modern digital technology not just as a product for consumption but rather as a means of creation. Riding along with the Blue Bike gang, children will learn about the science and technology being developed in their own communities and how to use that knowledge to make their communities better.
The Live Experience
Blue Bike will begin as a live experience- an interactive, multi-media stage production taken to schools, science and community centers. Modeled after the classic local kid show from the golden age of television, Blue Bike is presented as a ‘live studio’ experience where kids can see the inner workings of a tv show, receive prizes and giveaways, and be featured in future episodes.
The Video Experience
The live show will be recorded and presented as the pilot episode of “The Blue Bike Kid Show for Kids and Other People”. Hosted on Blue Bike’s own website, kids from anywhere will be able to watch and download the episode for free as well as a series of shorter webisodes added each week that will expand the Blue Bike universe.
The Web Experience
Blue Bike’s website is the hub of our future science and technology hack space where kids will be able to not only see the show but learn about real science and technology. The site will feature renowned scientists and engineers from their own communities in 60-second videos showing kids how to conduct experiments and re-design the technology around them. The site will also feature Blue Bike's own ‘Fixitologist’ guide, inventor bios, and activities all designed to inspire creativity, curiosity, and exploration.
How Your Pledge Will Help
Our estimated budget to realize the Blue Bike live show and the video "pilot" episode is $11,500. We will receive a matching grant of $5,000 from the Performing Arts Venture Entrepreneurs organization if we are able to raise the $5000 from Kickstarter. Funds generated through Kickstarter will go directly toward producing the Blue Bike live show and video “pilot” episode. Sets, costumes, and props will need to be purchased and fabricated. Video support, micro-controllers, and projectors will be needed for the interactive live experience. Funding will also facilitate the interviews and research with local scientists and engineers to present their work for young audiences.
We cannot do this without you. Help us match the $5,000 by pledging what you can.
