Reign of Cthulhu PvP is a 2-6 player free-for-all. Everyone is out on their own, clearing the map until there is only one left standing.. This allows even two of the same heroes to have different strategies and combat styles; customized for each player.
You can also create teams, build virtual headquarters, solve puzzles, and fight up to six other players for control of the City of R’lyeh in your real-world neighborhood.
The Sunken City of R’lyeh is full of traps, buried treasure, and locked tombs. All can be accessed by solving various puzzles and challenges. Each challenge becomes easier the more character classes you have working on it. Puzzles can range from shifting gears into the right order, to having multiple people performing individual actions around the world in order to find the solution
You first choose your hero, second build up an army to battle from cards you collected from your t-shirts or free from simply downloading the app when it's released. The object is for you to take control of pieces of the city of R'lyeh, virtually and in the real world. In augmented reality control places in your neighborhood, in your city, or anywhere in the world if your deck is powerful enough to do so. Check out the video below.
Once you accumulate all the loot, you have to store it somewhere. That’s where team headquarters come in handy. Here, you’ll combine resources to research items and unlock additional items, powers, and quests hidden inside certain artifacts.
The more people on your team, the faster the research becomes, and the more varied the items will be.
We think playing together is better than playing alone-- duh. So don’t just challenge everyone you meet, part of the fun is building teams of players that allow you to fight groups of other people at the same time for control of pieces of the city of R'lyeh. Teams share resources, get special quests, buffs, and NPCs that expand the faction narrative in new and unique ways.
Here's a video below we shot BEFORE we changed the name to "Reign of Cthulhu" from "Blood of Cthulhu" it's unedited, but it really drives home our love the genre. ( P.S. if you want to know why we changed the name PM us.
Arkham, Miskatonic University, Cthulhu...the influences are felt from Batman, to Stephen King, to Stranger Things...and now the humble co-founders and inventors Noble A. Drakoln and Paul Jesus Limon are throwing their hats in the ring.
We both grew up separately reading, watching, and devouring everything and anything H.P. Lovecraft and when we decided to turn t-shirts into and augmented reality clothing game, we knew we couldn't get any better visuals than the mixture of suspense, sci-fi, horror, and fantasy that H.P. Lovecraft brought with his mysterious take on our universe.
Along the way we have created our own vision of the Lovecraft mythos, building out new adventures, new heroes, and new locations constantly using the magic that is augmented reality.
Paul Jesus Limon has 30 years of experience in story and game design working on AAA titles for Blizzard, Activision, Sony, and DreamWorks to name a few. Paul is the creator of Tyrael the Archangel of Justice from the Diablo franchise and has had a significant impact on many of Blizzard's major franchises.
Couple that with the combined 40 years of business experiences of the four other partners in finance, e-sports, military procurement, manufacturing and film making, a winning team has evolved to make one of the most unique games ever.
Right now we have paid to have our technology patented, develop large portions of the game mechanics, and even had a few game developers bring different parts of the game to life! To do all of this at the quality and scale the Lovecraft community deserves is very capital intensive. Which is why we need you! We know that our forward-thinking community, our loyal supporters, and Lovecraftian brothers and sisters can bring this game to life!
Augmented Reality is the "magic" of the modern day. I can take my smart phone or tablet, point the camera at a piece of paper, at an image on a t-shirt, or just at the center of a room and see a digital image that didn't exist before.
For us, AR is not just a gimmick, it's a great new way of telling stories and playing games that will bring people physically together, in real life.
We have taken Reign of Cthulhu and the city of R'lyeh and have turned your favorite real-world locations into guild halls, raiding parties, and team-based challenges. This is a new game, for a new technology, that lets you see your world in a whole new way.
To give you a glimpse of how this is done we have made a little comic book to explain a little of the story of our game along with some of the A.R. elements that you will experience as a player. This comic book is a cool "add on" we will be including to with the pledges and a potential stretch goal for a full blown graphic novel.
DLC (downloadable content), "in app" purchases are all KPIs (key performance indicators) of every app that is made to make money, but what about the COV (consumer oriented value)...shh! We just made that up, lol.
Really though? Hours of play, hundreds if not thousands of dollars spent and the awesome customized weapon or one of a kind skin is locked in your computer, on your phone, and your bragging rights are limited to just a few...and the companies still expect you to buy their swag - hats, t-shirts, jackets and so on.
We thought why not have the best of both worlds. Your game, your bragging rights, and your clothing all at the same time. That's why we built the WarePlai Platform. You are in control of your gaming experience digitally and in the real world.
We have t-shirts now, but we won't stop there!!! That's why we need your backing on Kickstarter, we want every item we make for you to enhance your game play; more t-shirts, hats, badges, wristbands, and a myriad of accessories will expand your game play...all with items you can wear and use and play daily.
Each one of our products is a container of virtual goods;
- Loaded with all kinds of unique cards
- Special in game equipment
- NPCs (non-player characters, like artifact pets)
- Solo and multiplayer and faction quests,
- and other awesome game elements, like hidden doors or accelerated research equipment.
You don’t have to wear the shirts to play, but when you do, amazing visual affects, along with in-game buffs and bonuses will display for all to see.
R'lyeh has risen. Three factions want to control it. Only one can truly be king of it, the slumbering dreamer...Cthulhu.
Reign of Cthulhu
Your initial pledge of $60 will get you one of the faction t-shirts below, what we like to deem the "the monstrosities, the bad, and the good"
- (The monstrosities) The House of Antium: The oldest of all the factions. Established during the reign of Nero Caesar in 40 A.D., their ultimate goal is to reshape humanity into the next stage of evolution. Their physiology has mutated to encompass the power and likeness of the Ancient Ones.
- (The bad) The Pythorian Society: Children of math and science who have stumbled upon the great forbidden knowledge. This secretive group merges technology and the supernatural in order to bend the might of the Ancient Ones, harnessing their power to fulfill their personal needs, wants, and desires.
- (The good ) Miskatonic University: Unwitting players in this cosmic game, Miskatonic U. has found itself to become mankind’s last line of defense against the things lying in wait, beyond the shadows of our reality. Mixing past technology and new discoveries, they are always experimenting with ways to prevent the reemergence of these ancient beings.
These three A.R. activated faction t-shirts are only available for kickstarter.
This $30 "Add On" T-shirt has the following A.R. Game Elements:
Some early work on creatures form Great Race of YITH to new creatures you will meet.
Co-op or PvP, our combat takes place on virtual battlefields that appear right in the middle of your location. Some battlefields are large enough to fit inside a park, while others, small enough to fit in your favorite coffee shop nook. Co-op combat has you teaming with other players to battle against a rival team. This can be 2v2 or 3v3. You control the map by either defeating your opponents' minions and defenses or by achieving the control of that map's goal.
We know that one of the most frustrating problems we've encountered when backing projects on Kickstarter are waiting for your project to arrive! We WILL have your pledged Faction t-shirt at your door within 3 months after the campaign ends.
We've partnered with an amazing large scale production t-shirt company that works with some of the largest brands in the world in order to have your t-shirt's printed and shipped once our Kickstarter campaign closes.
All shipping costs will be incurred by the backer and will be processed once everyone chooses their factions. We will do everything to keep the costs as low as possible.
