About this project
It’s Devil’s Night in Olympia, WA – and out at Henderson Farms, the festivities are reaching a crescendo. Young and old have gathered to pick their own pumpkin, drink hot apple cider, and partake in the usual pumpkin farm fare. However, something has awakened from deep within the fertile soil. After years of abuse and humiliation, the pumpkins…are ready to pick us. You can Beg! You can plead! You can scream! But these hell’s lanterns are lit only with the burning desire to watch. You. Die!
Blood & Gourd is a wild new indie horror comic book series from Dead Peasant Publishing. A series six years in the making, the first issue was released in April 2015. The response has been remarkable, and now we’re looking to keep up that momentum with Blood & Gourd Issue #2: Escape from Henderson Farms!
For those of you just jumping on, issue #1 introduced readers to a world of premium, pulse-pounding, pumpkin pandemonium! Picture what would happen if H.P. Lovecraft wrote for EC Comics in the heyday of VHS B-movie splendor, on Halloween, with lovable losers who swoop in to save the day. Oh, and there’s a telepathic toy unicorn, too!
We're proud to announce that the same team that brought you issue #1 is already hard at work on this exciting followup: Jenz K. Lund, D.H. Shultis, Dave Acosta, Juan Albarran, Fran Gamboa, JC Ruiz, Juan Antonio Ramirez, and The Gurch!
Blood & Gourd Issue #2: Escape from Henderson Farms, picks right up after the epic finale from the first. The sinister Mr. Pleasant has unleashed a massive, otherworldly demon; and with it, murderous hordes of gourds and goblins!
A handful of survivors may have kept themselves alive through the first rampaging wave of gruesome ghoulies and cucurbita craziness, but can they find a way off the farm alive?
Get ready for more of that unfettered imagination and frantic madness you've come to expect from Blood & Gourd. Issue # 2 will be even wilder and faster than the first installment, and it's set for a sweet, Halloween 2015 release!
But don't take our word for it. Check out these links to reviews, interviews, and podcasts featuring Blood & Gourd. For more information, go to our website: www.bloodandgourd.com.

Risks and challenges
Some of you may recall our first Kickstarter campaign back in 2013. It didn't reach its goal, but we learned a lot, and succeeded the second time around through Indiegogo. Truth be told, we really enjoy the Kickstarter community, so we've decided to come back to you!
We're indie. Obstacles abound. By reaching our funding goals, we anticipate an October 2015 release. The only foreseeable risk is that the print copies won't be available by October. But don't fret! We'll be offering DRM free, PDF copies of issues 1 & 2 as a back up.
Stemheads, we haven't failed you yet. This is our third crowd-funding campaign, and we're excited to make it even more successful than the last one. Six years into this thing, and we're still growing strong!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
