We Made it and are Funded!
Thank you to everyone who has supported and backed our project! With just a few hours to go I’ve added a stretch goal!
Momma is off her chain, out of her mind and starving.
Free for the first time in decades and hell bent on making up for lost time, Ruth is headed straight for the town of Boggy Depot to feed on its inhabitants. The only one who can stop her is Judd Glenny, her grandfather and the one who made her in the first place… who’s regretted it every night since.
Glenny Family Values is the second volume of the Blood & Dust saga that began with volume 1, The Life & Undeath of Judd Glenny and is an 80 page graphic novel continuing the story of Judd Glenny and his vampire family. Ride along with Eddie Jacobs and listen to Judd tell the tale of how the Glenny Family came to be and the hellish night Judd died and was reborn. All while racing to stop Ruth from killing…everyone.
About Me & Team Blood & Dust
My name is Michael Martin and along with Adam Orndorf, we created and wrote Blood & Dust: The Life & Undeath of Judd Glenny almost ten years ago, which was then published by Action Lab: Danger Zone in 2016. I’d like to tell you a quick story about why Blood & Dust is so important to me.
I’ve had Renal Cell Carcinoma (Kidney Cancer) twice which caused me to have one whole and one partial kidney removed. In fact, Adam & I attended our first Phoenix Comicon in 2009 while I was still recovering from having my kidney removed. We were walking around the convention while I held my stomach because it was still taped shut and healing. But I wasn’t going to miss the opportunity to learn how to make my dream of making Blood & Dust come true, so script in hand we walked around meeting people we still call friends today.
I also lost my ex-wife & friend to Small Cell Ovarian Cancer when she was 27 in 2010. The name Glenny in our story is her family name and I’d like to think about it as a memorial to her.
You see, Blood & Dust isn’t just a comic to me. It’s my legacy. It’s the thing I leave behind that people will remember and has allowed me to place my mark on something I’ve loved my whole life, the vampire genre. If enough people love Judd & his twisted little family, then maybe I can achieve eternal life in my own little way. I’m not trying to write 100 good stories, I’m trying to write one great one.
That’s why when building the team, I called on not only the best, but people who loved the story and had as much passion for it as I do.
Tone Rodriguez is a veteran comics illustrator and has worked on some of the craziest projects you could imagine. From creating the character & poster of The Dark Defender in Dexter, to illustrating for Image, Bongo, Dark Horse, & IDW, he’s done it all while at the same time being one of the best guys in comics. I met Tone for the very first time at that first PHXCC and when he expressed interest in working on B&D, I jumped at the chance.
Raymund Lee is a Digital Illustrator & Colorist who’s worked on some of Marvel’s top titles. He also ran Whilce Portacio’s school in Manilla and is a Master at his craft. His work was one of the things that stood out most in Volume 1 and I’m honored to not only have him on the team but to be able to call him friend.
Kel Nuttal is also back with letters, and his graphic design skills and aesthetics helps make the book look as awesome as it does as well as this page!
One last thing that drives me and everyone on the team. The fans. You guys have been the most incredible, supportive and awesome folks I could ever have the pleasure of knowing and we appreciate you so much! I can't wait to hear back from you and find out what you think about the story. Thank you all again for taking the time to read all this and continuing to support the book and our twisted little family!
Why Kickstarter & What It's Paying For
Kickstarter is really becoming the best way to connect with fans and folks looking for new and innovative stories. Since we decided to do Volume 2 on our own and not publish through Action Lab, I knew I’d be able to get the book out fastest to our fans via Kickstarter.
The book is done and I’ve paid all members of the team, so now the money is going for printing of the books and rewards! If we move beyond our goals then that will help recoup what I’ve paid the team and if we go beyond THAT all proceeds go to paying my team for Volume 3, The Ballad of Preacherman & Lawdog!
What they're saying about Blood & Dust!
"I can't remember the last time I read a horror story as ingenuitive as Blood & Dust. It's Vampire horror at its finest, and Volume 2 takes the mythos in a totally new direction. This is a must-read for any fang-fan!"

It's no holds barred, dark and edgy writing, paired with hyper detailed art and rich deep dark coloring will fully immerse you into Michael R. Martins twisted monster macabre world. VOL 2 delivers some meaty backstory on Glenny and his families dark beginnings, HAUNTING! Buy this comic book if you like top notch monster mayhem!”

You think your family has issues? This is a family story like no other and, frankly, I’d want it no other way. BLOOD & DUST: GLENNY FAMILY VALUES #1 is a well-rounded comic anyone can enjoy and a vampire tale with heart (in a peculiar way). From an intriguing storyline to its defining illustrations, this next arc in the Blood & Dust series is solid on all levels. Do you need to know about, or have read, the first run (Blood & Dust: The Life and Undeath of Judd Glenny)? Not at all, although I highly recommend it. Even without knowing the amount of the tiers for the upcoming Kickstarter, I feel confident in stating that anyone who backs/supports the campaign will definitely get their money’s worth and then some. PopCultHQ’s Rating: 5 Out of 5 Stars!

"Blood & Dust takes the vampire mythos to new heights with Glenny Family Values."
James Ferguson - HorrorTalk.com & Comic Book Splatter Podcast
"We are all horror veterans at this point, and to have found a book that deals with vampires and even when some of us aren’t big vampires fans yet this tickled our fancy because it was a new take on an old, old, old trope. And to do something different at this point is saying a lot and is a tall order!"
