Welcome to The Third Element.
Welcome to The Third Element, the latest campaign from Blind Beggar Miniatures. This campaign will feature some new characters that will be added to the existing Outlanders range of miniatures, whilst at the same time enabling the range to be restructured.
The Third Element...?
Why The Third Element?, you may well ask.
The answer is quite simple really: The Outlanders range is going to be restructured into Faction Sets and Expansion/Character Packs.
The Faction Sets will vary slightly dependant in their content, but will average out at eight human-sized miniatures, whilst both the Character and Expansion Packs will contain three miniatures..
Whilst the Faction Sets are pretty straightforward to organise when it comes to this restructuring, the Character Packs need some new recruits for this to work. Therefore, there is a need for a few new Characters to enable this to happen, thus they are 'The Third Element' in these Packs.
These new characters will, of course, work in other ways and I am sure that people will come up with plenty of other uses for them when they have them in hand.
The New Characters.
Introducing the new Characters who will be joining the existing cast:
The existing Packs that will be receiving reinforcement as part of the restructuring and how it will happen....
...The new Bounty Hunter.will be joining the Bounty Hunter pack as part of the team with the Pack name being changed rather simply to: 'Bounty Hunters'..
The Customs Officer will, unsurprisingly, be joined by the Customs Security officer. The new Pack will be called 'Customs Detail'.
The Mayor and his Mechanical Bird will be joined by The Mayoress , with the Pack name changing to 'Mayor and Mayoress'.
The Priest will be left by the Cyber Hound and instead be joined by the two Novice Priests. The newly configured Pack will be known as 'Priest and Acolytes'.
The Noif Herder will be joined by the Cyber Hound that previously accompanied the Priest and this new Pack will be renamed 'Man Hunter'.
Joe and Kaero will find themselves accompanied by the rather deceptive Busted Bot. The new Pack will be given the rather original name of 'Joe, Kaero and BOB2'
The Pledge Levels.
Take a look at the Pledge Levels on the right to see the options available. As well as the New Characters, you will also find the option of acquiring some of the original models from the earlier campaigns alongside the newer characters if you so wish.
Here is an brief of each of the levels:
One Pack of three miniatures chosen from the selection which will be available after the restructuring.Stretch Goals do NOT apply at this Pledge Level.
The New Characters:
All six of the NEW Characters, plus any extra Characters or equipment Unlocked via Stretch Goals
The Old and the New:
The six New packs once the New Characters have been added to them (both the original twelve and the six New Characters for a total of 18 miniatures) plus any extra Characters or equipment Unlocked via Stretch Goals
Want extra Packs?:
Extra Packs of the new three miniature configuration may be added to any Pledge at a cost of £9 per Pack. Simply adjust your Pledge Level accordingly.
The following Stretch Goals will be added should the appropriate funding level be met.
Stretch Goal 1 (UNLOCKED!): Mayoress Weapon Option
An extra option for the Mayoress is now available
This comes in the form of an alternative 'hands' option, enabling you to arm her for her role as the Mayor's Bodyguard by carrying an Electro-Gun instead of the bouquet of flowers that she originally comes with. Should we reach that point then the chance will be yours as you will receive both 'hand' options in your pledge.
Stretch Goal 2 (£1000) Female Ranger
The second Stretch Goal, set at £1000, will see the addition of another Character to the set should the funding total reach that point.
This time it will be in the form of a new female Ranger for the Spec-Force team.
She will be replacing Tonnik, the bulky alien that is currently in the SpecForce Ranger Team.
If you missed out on picking up a set of Rangers, including Tonnik, there are a few left should you wish to acquire one before the change of personnel. This way you can get your hands on Tonnik before he is discontinued as well as the rest of the Team along with his replacement (if she Unlocks!). Just send me a message for details...
All of the above figures have 'slotta' base tabs, which have been designed to fit most types of plastic slotted bases, or they are flat bottomed and therefore able to be easily fixed to any type of base required, including slotted..
Bases are NOT supplied.
There are several reasons for this:
Firstly, whichever type that I chose may not necessarily be compatible with those of any given Backer.
Secondly, I would have to increase the cost of all Pledges to cover this.
Thirdly, and most importantly, the space that they occupy could take parcels from the Large Letter category, which 95% of all parcels so far in previous campaigns have fit into, up to a Small Parcel and thus increase the postage further. This can be quite a significant increase when sending overseas.
Bearing all these factors in mind I have decided it makes more sense not to add them.
Risks and challenges
I have already launched and fulfilled quite a few Kickstarter campaigns so I feel that I am aware of exactly what it takes to run a campaign on time. In fact, all of my previous campaigns have been successfully fulfilled earlier than the date promised.
There are no foreseeable reasons why this should not be the same..
I have factored in a little extra time, just in case, but you should all have your new toys before the estimated date.
