Blind Beggar Miniatures are proud to announce that we have been given permission by Nic Wright (author of the Palaeo Diet rules) and Andrea Sfiligoi (of Ganesha Games) to make a range of miniatures based on the illustrations by Orestis 'Orestix' Ermeides in Palaeo Diet: Eat of be Eaten.
If this campaign is successful these miniatures will be produced in white metal. These figures are based on 28mm scale bodies with oversized heads.
There are further expansion options planned which will feature creatures as well as further Tribal options, including non-human hominids.
Palaeo Diet: Eat or be Eaten the game...
Palaeo Diet: Eat or be Eaten is a stand-alone set of gaming rules for recreating prehistoric animal hunts on your table top. The game models a time when humans were not yet in control of the world around them, when the landscape could just as easily give succour to a struggling tribe, as it could cripple a thriving people.
Designed with solo and multiplayer games in mind, players take on the role of the hunting party while an integral response mechanism means that beasts react in different ways in different situations.
The game itself can be purchased as a PDF from Ganesha Games here:
Hard copy rule books are also available from Amazon.
A limited number of hard copy rule books will be available to be added to Pledge Parcels as an Add-On once the campaign has finished. The chance to purchase and add these to your parcels will be offered on a first-come-first-served basis (beginning with Backer #1, then Backer #2 and so on) until they have all been taken up. The option to indicate whether you would like one of these will be provided on the Surveys when they are sent out.
It is an exciting, fun and very clever game that can either be played solo, where you control all of the members of The Tribe on their hunt, or as a multi-player game where co-operation is the key to success.
If your group of players is anything like mine I am sure that you can imagine the fun that entails, especially when you have different ideas!
Palaeo Diet: The Tribe! Miniatures.
The miniatures themselves are based on 28mm scale bodies that are provided with separate oversized heads. This system will allow you to customise your Tribe by selecting your own choice of heads to go on each body. With a choice of six heads for each body the options are there, thirty six of them in all!
Some coloured-in examples for my own games....
And some rear view shots...
Here is a shot of some master castings of the bodies and heads that are being produced during this campaign.
The inspiration behind the miniatures.
The heads are all based on the characterful members of the tribe, and in particular their faces, featured in the Palaeo Diet main rule book. The illustrations are by Orestis 'Orestix' Ermeides, a very talented artist who has created the characters in such a wonderful way!
The Pledge Level Options.
Given that this set has six heads and six bodies (and a Hound as a possible Stretch Goal!) it is possible for 36 combinations of head/body without any conversion. Simply decide on the combination that you would like for each character. Should you want more than six different characters in your Tribe, or wish to get together with friends and split them, simply choose from the options available to populate your Tribe to the size of your choosing.
There are several different Pledge Levels to build the size of Tribe that you wish.
The option to purchase six sets at a reduced price has been added in order to be able to build all 36 options should you be ambitious enough to attempt this!
If you want to enlarge your Tribe you also have the chance to add Captain Mancave to your Pledge Parcel at a cost of £5 per miniature...
Simply add £5 to your Pledge Total for each casting of Captain Mancave that you you would like to add to your Tribe. Captain Mancave is a single piece casting.
Stretch Goal £1500: The Hound!
Should the Funding Total reach £1500 a single Hound will be added to each Tribe.
If you have Pledged for one of the larger Pledges a Hound will be added to each Tribe set taking the total number of miniatures in each to seven.
All of the miniatures have been created with an integral flat base (and a flat belly in the case of the Hound) to enable you to affix them to the base of your choosing.
The painted examples in the pictures have been fixed to coins with a diameter of approx. 26mm.
Bases are NOT supplied.
As these are two-part miniatures a small degree of modelling skill or experience is required.
The neck join will fit best (and be able to be fitted at almost any angle) when a small amount of Green Stuff is used between the pieces when they are glued together. This will be supplied with your miniatures.
These miniatures are not toys and may be harmful if chewed or swallowed and there fore are not suitable for young children.
Risks and challenges
Blind Beggar have already run many successful Kickstarter campaigns which have all been sent out within the time frame specified at the the time of launch.
I see no reason why this should be any different as the figures have already been sculpted and master moulds have been made to eliminate as much risk of delays as is possible.
This project is to fund the production moulding and casting of The Tribe.
Extra time has been factored in to compensate for any delay in casting or shipping, so every pledge should be fulfilled in time.
