Welcome to the latest Blind Beggar Miniatures Kickstarter campaign: The Galactic Civilians: Phase 2!
This campaign will, if successful, see the Galactic Civilians featured in this campaign go into production as 28mm scale miniatures cast in white metal,
The Civilians themselves have been deliberately made as generic as possible so that they can be used to represent pedestrians, corporate workers, innocent bystanders, officials or whatever you wish in pretty much any setting, be it a far flung outpost, a sprawling mega-city or a hive of grim and dark aspect, paint them how you will to fit them into your own setting.
There are six civilian miniatures that we are attempting to fund at the start of this campaign, three Alien manual workers and three cybernetically augmented family members, consisting of a male, a female and their pet. More Aliens will follow later, although there are other Aliens available amongst the additional Pack options (see Expanding The Crowd below).
The master castings for this have already been made, this campaign is purely to fund the production moulding of the Galactic Civilians: Phase 2.
The Phase 2 Civilians on Outland.
Here are some examples of the figures from this campaign painted up for use in my own Outland setting.
First up are the Alien Manuel Workers painted up as a Mining Crew, surveying the canyons of the mountains of the Northern frontier...
Secondly, the Cybernetically Enhanced Family painted up in the colours of The Cognitive Collective....
Expanding the Crowd...

Sets of the six miniature that form the Galactic Civilians: Phase 1 may be added to your Pledge at a cost of £16 per set. Simply adjust your Pledge level accordingly.
Even More Civilians....
There are also a few Packs in the Blind Beggar range that would work well in conjunction with the Galactic Civilians to expand your Crowd of Citizens.
Take a look at the optional Packs below and see if you wish to increase the size of your Civilian contingent.
If anything takes your fancy, just work out how many extra Packs that you want to add to your Crowd and select the appropriate Pledge Level on the right.
Also included is the Baronial Guard Character pack as that can make for an excellent spaceport security set.
Want Some Androids???
There is also the option to add The Original Android Collective, in case you wish to add some non-sentient characters to your Civilian Crowd.
The Original Android Collective may also be be added to your Pledge at a cost of £20 per set of seven miniatures. Simply adjust your Pledge level accordingly.
There will be a space on the survey when it is sent out to let me know which Packs you would like to add.
Here is a group shot featuring all of the miniatures available in this campaign all together.
This collection is available in the reduced price 'Everything' Pledge Level. The Porters in this picture have had resin 'cargo' added to their panniers. Those that you receive will be unladen as they appear in the Alien Merchant and Porters Pack illustration above, so that you can add the 'load' of your choice.
Please Note: All miniatures are supplied unpainted and unbased.
A bonus extra figure is available during this campaign, The Alien Blind Beggar.
Originally sculpted just for fun to use as an objective marker, I thought that it may be a fun idea to throw him in a mould and make him available here.
Backers of Galactic Civilians: Phase 1 who return and Back this campaign will receive him Free of charge.
Other Backers can add him to their Pledge for an additional £3, just adjust your Pledge level accordingly.
All of the above figures either have 'slotta' base tabs (or an integral flat base), which have been designed to fit most types of plastic slotted bases.
Bases are NOT supplied.
There are several reasons for this:
Firstly, whichever type that I chose may not necessarily be compatible with those of any given Backer.
Secondly, I would have to increase the cost of all Pledges to cover this.
Thirdly, and most importantly, the space that they occupy could take parcels from the Large Letter category, which 95% of all parcels so far in previous campaigns have fit into, up to a Small Parcel and thus increase the postage further. This can be quite a significant increase when sending overseas.
Bearing all these factors in mind I have decided it makes more sense not to add them.
Risks and challenges
I have already run many successful Kickstarter campaigns which have funded and been fulfilled within the time frame specified at the the time of launch.
I see no reason why this should be any different as the figures have already been sculpted and master moulds have been made to eliminate as much risk of delays as is possible.
This project is to fund the production moulding and casting of the Galactic Civilians: Phase 2 miniatures, all of the optional extras have already been production moulded.
I have factored in extra time for any delay in casting or shipping, so every pledge should be fulfilled in time.
The only problem would be if I were to upset the Mayor and be made to 'disappear', but as I have no intention of doing that, that should not be an issue....
