About the Project:
When you arrive at the Portland airport, you are coming somewhere special. The land of bikes and coffee where adventure is never far away. But even before that you have the iconic PDX airport carpet.
We’ve been trying to bring the carpet to you in bag form, but in case you didn’t know this, carpet doesn’t make a good bag. It’s dirty, heavy, and a little tough to work with. So we’ve come up with the closest approximation you can get – our fabrics printed with the PDX carpet pattern!
We plan to go the extra mile on this project. Not only can you expect the great PDX carpet fabric, but also limited edition project logos only available through Kickstarter and a special shout out on our website for all our supporters. We couldn’t do it without you!!
Our goal is to raise the funds necessary to make this fabric happen and to get ourselves a few new tools so we can keep on making better bags faster, in-house.
Our Philosophy: We apply a minimalist approach to designing products that allow you to enjoy your everyday adventure without getting bogged down with features you won’t use. We build everything by hand from the highest quality materials so that you can expect it to be around for awhile. We know you wouldn’t buy it if it didn’t look good, so aesthetics are considered at every step of the process. Finally, we double check every stitch to make sure that you’ll be getting the quality you expect when you see Handmade in Portland on the tag.
What you can expect:
Quality Design –Time tested products that we know are ready for the rigors of everyday use.
Great Looks – Let’s face it, we’re all here for the carpet. We compliment it with charcoal accents to give it that extra edge.
Built to Last – Like everything we make, it has to last a lifetime and a half!
Handmade in Portland – Why would you get a PDX carpet bag made anywhere else???
Thanks to Ryan Tidrick for the video
& Ethan Kroll for skating & modeling.
Risks and challenges
We are bringing you the iconic PDX carpet on products that we’ve developed and refined over the last 8 years, so you can rest assured that you’ll be getting quality goods. We have already printed a small test-run of the material and are ready to get several rolls printed once we reach our KickStarter goal. There is no project completely without risks, but this one is on pretty solid ground. We can’t wait to bring you this great fabric on awesome products that you can use everyday! Join us so that we can make this project a reality!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
