Shadow Days is a new and exciting fantasy deckbuilding, combat and survival game from Black Tea Studios. It is easy to learn, simple to setup and most importantly, fun. Battle your opponent using creatures and powerful objects, while enduring fateful events. Earn gold to purchase mighty heroes and protective strongholds. It will take brawn, brains, gold, and a little luck to survive! Shadow Days is a must-have for any fantasy gamer.

A Dark Time
It is the year 9999 of the Third Great Reconstruction. The world stands still. A strange force has cast a heavy shadow across the land. Creatures of every kind have felt the stinging touch of madness. Total insanity has spread like a merciless plague. Though some are spared, they do not count themselves lucky. Brother has turned against brother, elf against elf, dwarf against dwarf, orc against orc and nature against nature. In the midst of the storm, the most unlikely alliances have been forged. Family, faction, race and land are no more. There is only survival!
- Pool Deck ~ Shuffle together the Creature and Event Cards and place them face down.
- Object Deck ~ Place the Object Cards face up next to the Pool Deck.
- Hero/Villain Deck ~ Place the Hero and Villain cards face up next to the Object Deck.
- War Machine Deck ~ Place the War Machine cards face up next to the Hero/Villain Deck.
- Stronghold Deck ~ Place the Stronghold Cards face up next to the Hero/Villain Deck.
- Discard Pile ~ Leave a space next to the Stronghold Deck. Discarded cards will go here, face up.
Each player draws five cards from the Pool Deck. Each player places his/her cards in a row, face up. If any player has drawn an Event Card, it is ignored and discarded. That player then draws a replacement card from the Pool Deck.
Each player rolls the 20-sided die. The player with the highest roll goes first (re-rolling any ties). Play proceeds clockwise.

Winning The Game
The game is over when one player has no remaining LP. The player with remaining LP wins!
In a game with more than two players, the last player with remaining LP wins. If it is determined that an Event Card would cause all players to lose their remaining LP, the player with the current highest LP amount automatically wins.
What Makes This Card Game So Different?
Shadow Days is like Magic: The Gathering (for the rest of us), and Dungeons & Dragons on speed. I wanted to create a game with a deep fantasy element that was easy to jump right into. To put it another way, I wanted a rich, chocolate latté with whipped cream, but half the fat.
For deckbuilding lovers, there's plenty opportunity to build your deck with the best objects gold can buy. For the strategists among you, the Strongholds are a dream come true. Move your cards at the right time for a devastating strike! For those who are into survival, you're in luck. Your precious Life Points are depleted with each successful attack by your opponent. Stay alive!
Sometimes you simply want a good dose of fantasy gaming, without all of the little pieces, paper, pencils, markers, etc. Shadow Days lies between longer, more complicated games and the super casual games. All of the numbers go by multiples of five, so this makes for easier calculation and faster combat. It's a bubbling cauldron of Deckbuilding, Combat, Survival, Dice and Strategy. Stir it up!

Shadow Days offers "lite" versions of deckbuilding (or if you prefer, deck-building), combat and survival mechanics. It focuses on what makes each one special. It does this without taking any one mechanic too seriously. This makes for a fun experience! As mentioned in the summary, it's like Magic The Gathering (and a few other titles) for the rest of us. The deckbuilding mechanic mostly relates to the use of Strongholds. Strongholds allow a player to purchase and keep certain cards in their deck/hand. During the Regroup Phase, players can choose to keep their cards as they are, move them or discard them during the Regroup Phase. Additionally, cards may be purchased to increase the power of your deck/hand. This is a chance to remove the weaker cards and hold on to the stronger ones. Next, we see the effect of the Combat and Survival mechanics. Players fight and use strategy to inflict damage, but also keep the valuable cards they have purchased. Players can lose cards they have added to their decks, IF they are outside of a Stronghold. So, this is a different type of deckbuilding. It is on a much smaller scale and with quite a bit of risk. We chose to stick with familiar terms, instead of creating a completely new term and causing confusion and lots of questions. Maybe we could have gone with something like "Shadow Days - A Fantasy Game of Draftacombatodecksurvival". ￼
Shadow Days is a fun, casual game. It has a "grown-up", professional look and it takes the cool elements of other genres without the complicated depth, stats and rules.
