3RD STREET BLACKOUT is a feature-length romantic comedy set in the blackout after hurricane Sandy in New York City. We're raising money to finish and bring it to a theater near you!
It's got an incridiculous cast (that’s incredible & ridiculous in one word) - Ed Weeks from The Mindy Project, Janeane Garofalo from Wet Hot American Summer, John Hodgman from The Daily Show, Jordan Carlos from The Nightly Show, Phyllis Somerville from House of Cards and so many more. It's a comedy with romance in it… like a romantic comedy and we’re damn near certain you’ll dig it.
All we need to finish off this film and bring it to theaters is a little cash money to cover the following:
- legal fees!
- music licences!
- paying the music composer!
- putting the movie on those drive thingees that they use in theaters! (DCP’s)!
- paying for E&O insurance!
- paying for the PR person to make magic press happen!
The list is long, and parts of it are extremely boring. But this is what you need to get a movie done and we would love - nay LURVE! - your help in getting us there. The more money we raise, the more DCP’s we’ll be able to make and the more cities the movie will be able to play in.
You’re getting on board a very important train - a train called “independent film.” Okay that was cheesy, BUT it's true. Without support from individuals like you, we can’t tell the small stories that need to be told. A studio film isn't going to show you how wonderful the blacked out neighborhoods of NYC became during that time, how everyone seemed to make contact, and actually CARE. Without the support of viewers like you, we definitely wouldn’t be able to put an Iranian-American Muslim girl in the lead, flanked by a diverse and intergenerational cast. It just wouldn’t happen. Backing a project like this really matters.
Please let us know if you have any questions about our expenditures, our film, our… well anything. Let’s get real intimate, why don’t we? We hope you’ll considering helping us out and in the meantime, we hope things are going swimmingly for you, because if you got this far, you’re clearly great.

Risks and challenges
We're freelancers juggling a number of projects and there's certainly a risk that there will be delays on fulfilling perks. Making this film without enough staff required us to multi-task like crazy and we're prepared to do that to keep our commitments. That being said, if we feel like we're in danger of missing a deadline, we'll be sure to let you know as soon as possible when you can expect it.
But lucky for you, we take things personally and probably wouldn't be able to live with the guilt of not keeping our word!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
