Embrace Your Wild Side
Internationally, I am known as the Black Man With A Gun™, a gun rights activist, blogger and podcaster since 2000. I am going in a new direction with my creative talents and have started a fictional series called Solomon Love, I want you to become a part of this.
My long term goal is to create a volume of stories to entertain you on quiet nights when the moon is full.
Creating works of fiction is easier than trying to get someone to read it. Writing your thoughts, painting a scene for the mind’s eye, purposely taking your friends on a trip away from where they are-- is an art form. Despite your best efforts it is hit or miss. The wrong graphic, or the wrong choice of title can derail an author. As a writer you can be at the wrong time, pitch the wrong audience or you can just suck.
If at first you don’t first succeed, keep sucking until you do suck seed. – Curly, The Three Stooges.
I’m trying not to suck here. These are the stories of a former slave, that was beaten and presumed dead. He arose on a moonlit night unshackled in a courtyard. Arose with the presence of mind to run. He ran into the swamps looking for direction toward the North only to find out that the advice given was wrong. Moss doesn’t just grow on the north side of trees. Bleeding, exhausted and ready to close his eyes, he is bitten by a beast.
He awakens only to find himself being cared for by a mysterious woman named Magdalena. This beautiful and strange woman teaches him many things in the next few weeks and he is reborn. Into what he didn’t know until the moon was full again. His rage is kindled at the sound of tracking dogs in the distance, with slave catchers close behind them. He goes on a rampage that endangers their existence.
Fast forward to modern times. He is being interviewed in a blues club early in the morning after a successful set by a music reporter. She questions him on the blues song that he sang last. It was unfamiliar to her and she had been following the blues scene since her teen years. She had never heard that song before about Where the Moss Grows.
Her intuitiveness reminded him of the secret he carried successfully for over 300 years. He quickly packs up and leaves her. In his haste, he almost runs into a crime scene. Using his power to escape, he has to ditch his guitar in the alley. The guitar is found and the trouble begins.
This is the beginning of the Solomon Love story but it continues with new characters, a new city and more magic. These two books are available now on Amazon.
This third book ties up a few loose ends and brings us back to woman that started it all, Magdalena. I realized that writing these stories does for me what I hope it does for you. I’m all in now. I want to take you with me. I plan to build a community around these stories. With your help we will make it happen.
This story will become a movie with your help. I even have a local musician practicing his chops for an original score for the title character. Through my network I have pitched this to a movie director. You are helping me make this thing a BEAST.
