      "Full DRM-free game when it is done + Advanced Player's Guide in the best tradition of old school RPGs." Have you written this guide yet? Because I'm thinking about how much the needle has moved lately and right now something concrete would go a long way.

      Also your concept art is still some of the most eye catching in the genre, looking at the work done for Daedalus, if that and this is really your IP, you may be able to market to a developer that can actually deliver on it. Right now, if the player guide is impossible to craft, that means the game is not so much made, but thought about by an illustrator/storyboard writer.

      Every year we wait for the whole game, the more we feel like we asked parents for a Nintendo 64 game as a child and got it after we had pawned off our video games and moved to college, at some point its not the thought that counts any more.

    8. Brian Sfinas on

      BTW, Regarding Nixon's latest lie: if you look at his "progress" video, it was made in April. What a moron. Report the thief.

    9. Brian Sfinas on

      Oh look, people started complaining and reporting the thief, so he did a handful of VERY small things to make it look like the project is being worked on! I guess he didn't think anyone would see through his thinly-veiled ruse!

      Do not believe Nixon's lies. No work is being done on the game and an outside programmer recently noticed that Nixon's "lead programmer", esp1001, has logged less than 1.2 hours of time on the game. From his quote:

      "Nixon claims esp1001 is the main coder. A coder...that has ran the game a total of 1.2 hours.
      When I develop on a much smaller game I still reach 2-4 hours of testing-time per full work-day. To only have amassed 1.2h in total indicates the game isn't being worked on at all.

      (No developer will develop main features and then not run the full build - and the full build would have SteamWorks in it, so time from development is counted too.)"

      In addition, I was able to get in touch with the Voice-Casting Director for After Reset, Michael Salyer, who confirmed Nixon took the money and ran. He told me the following:

      "yeah he kept the money and fucking ran with no notice waited until we made enough of a game then dashed leaving us with no funds to complete the Dec something I had a huge passion for."

      So that is the situation, Nixon made just enough of a game to make it look like it was a real project, just like he's done with all of his Kickstarter projects, including the one he started after he ran off with all the money from this one.

      Make sure to report him to Kickstarter, report the game on Steam and blow up the After Reset social media to make sure no one purchases this scam game. Instructions below.
      To report Nixon and Black Cloud to Kickstarter, open the Campaign tab, scroll to the bottom and select "Report this project to Kickstarter". Let's make sure they're never able to use this platform to take people's money again.

      People should also be reporting the game on Steam. If you don't know how to report the game, go to the Store Page for it, on the right hand side there are the options to 'Share' and 'Embed', right next to that is a flag. Select the flag, report the game and explain to Steam what's going on. This walking piece of human garbage doesn't deserve to successfully steal another dime from people. You should also be reporting Nixon and Black Cloud Studios directly to Steam (via the same method) for censoring posts critical of the game. It's against Steam's Terms of Service and just another way Nixon is keeping his con going.

      Hey guys, I got the project updated and baked it for all platforms.
      We've just uploaded new builds on Steam, finally.
      I don't give up :)

      So, what's new:
      - FPS for the 3d level (the huge one) of the Gyes bunker boosted at around 30% (out of the blue, the source of the lags was not in the assets but in the code).
      - Animation of the NPC/companion ( Keren Goston http://www.afterreset.com/forum/showthread.php… ) fixed.
      - Drones' laser weapon's VFX fixed.
      - Holographic signs around the Gyes base fixed (it looks like tiny math mistake in the code forced them to flight away eventually... nut now now).
      - Full save/load mechanics fixed (we could not find any bugs in the last QA series... though, that's one of the most difficult part of the code so, please, report for any possible issues we didn't faced ourselves).

      What's next?
      Sending the payment to Evgeniy tomorrow.
      Beyond that, I've shared the build with the volunteer programmer to check if he's able to join.
      So, Evgeniy is redoing the combat mech (see the link on our FB video https://www.facebook.com/afterreset/videos/811890438993218/).
      And if the new volunteer feels that our code is a good match for him, I'm going to delegate minor bugs fixing from the report...
      And I'd like to add voice sets (have the awesome ones) to male and female characters (the protagonist).

      @Black Cloud Studios, it's not a threat to say that I'm going to let everyone know how unprofessional you are, how you misled investors, how you failed to deliver anything even remotely close to what was promised - it's actually my right as a scorned investor. You took my money and the money of many others, squandered it, and I'm going to let everyone that I can know. You can't do anything about it except for REFUND MY MONEY FOR YOUR SCAM. I don't believe any of your excuses, your lies about Jeffrey Pritz or your explanation that you're just an innocent idiot. Your constant censoring of peoples' legitimate concerns on Steam and on your forum are just additional proof that you're trying to propagate a falsehood. Further, Michael Salyer, your Voice Director, CONFIRMED to me that you took the money and ran. Not some scapegoat, YOU. I demand a refund for this lie you've concocted and until I get it I'm going to make sure everyone knows what happened. Instead of "spending money and time on new programmer collaboration and old programmer punching" or whatever the hell that means, spend some of your money paying back the investors you misled. Your are incompetent. You are a thief. You are unprofessional. I demand a refund.

      Steve Mellan, I guess, it was some update you missed earlier.
      I've just got ok that the new build passed QA and programmers reported they are uploading the project to me for review and baking/posting. Crossed my fingers.

      Brian Sfinas, please, PMing/mailing me that you find me using obscene language and threats - does no good. There is no secrets - you know the man who stole the money from KS (https://twitter.com/jeffreypritz) and I've got all his contacts (including phone, address and SSN) to share. I just don't have enough free money available for attorney to sue him.

      And as well as I've kept paying the team from my own, spamming on Steam won't help either. I'd prefer to spent money and time on new programmer collaboration and old programmers punching.

    28. Brian Sfinas on

      I think what we all need to do is report Nixon and Black Cloud Studios to Kickstarter to make sure they never scam people out of money again. Then, we need to warn everyone we can through Steam and Social Media not to give this guy a single red cent. If Nixon ever wants to make another "game" again, his first project needs to be paying back everyone who backed this piece of crap. His ignorance is no excuse for what happened here. He needs to get a job in retail, pay us back and never pursue his dreams again. For all we know, NIXON is the guy in the tapes in Hawaii living off our money. There is no proof of any of of his "claims".

    29. Brian Sfinas on

      I don't believe a single one of these claims at this point. But if I did, it sounds like you're completely incompetent and spending our money on guys who you're pretty sure are working on the game because they're sending you screenshots. If you're not the scammer yourself, you're the kind of idiot that falls for scams over and over again. You're not smart enough to be doing this. Period.

      Hey Valentin.
      Got your e-mail.
      Sent you the reply and I think it won't heart to post a copy of it here:

      Hey Valentin,

      Since the update I published: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/blackcloudstudios/after-reset-rpg-rebooted/posts/1703092 there's been following problems with the programmers:
      - I sent payment for the features done;
      - they spent the money but did not solve all tasks in time, as well as, there were a lot of bugs kept in the build;
      - I was put in the situation: either to send them the rest payment and encourage to complete the job properly, or - just lost my money spent and begin search of the new programmers from scratch (for lower payment plus extra 2-3months to get into the current code);
      - I chose the first option;
      - by the July the build you can see on the Steam (pre released) was done but with a lot of bugs reported there: http://steamcommunity.com/app/335850/discussions/2/
      - I asked coders to fix them one by one but... they promised "this weekend" over and over again. Till now...
      - The craziest thing is we've been really connecting and working together almost everyday... they redid a lot of things from scratch after that massive bug report... I know because they share their screens and sent me the video from time to time. I promised a hell of extra money if they finally did those fixed so that I could make a proper release... We got offered an ICO for the full game funding even (I denied - that damn release with final build should go first).
      - But everything I can do now is just keep waiting and paing for various things and geeks for the project meanwhile.

      The fact is I've got even volunteering programmers recently but... I need to get new project/build so that the new team don't have to start from scratch.

      So it's like that, sorry... As I see the development each day I don't give up and treat it as Pascal's Wager.

      Nixon is banning people from complaining on Steam and censoring posts. It's pretty clear he's a con artist and is trying to cover his bases. I'm sick of waiting for this idiot. It's clear that this is either 1. a scam. 2. "Richard Nixon" is a complete moron and is incapable of performing the task he said he was. I've complained several times and it's always just met with placating lies. Whether or not anything he's ever said is true, one thing is painfully obvious: This guy has no business making video games, period. Hi guys. It looks I missed Valentin's comment occasionally.

      Yeah, Evgenii (our lead coder) wrote on our Steam Discussion: "Folks, sorry. I know I’ve kept failing you and Richard. But I still work on the build. I had to wipe and rewrite the whole AI mechanics for NPCs behaviour I wrote earlier. It was a hard decision though the necessary one as your saturated feedbacks in Bug Reports indicated. Moreover, I became a dad two weeks ago and had to move to the new office to have some quite space to work. I know, I’m not the ideal but I have guts to complete my duty. I hope to send the final (crossing fingers) build to the QA this weekend."

      Our deal with him still in act: I've kept paying from my pocked for the programming issues resolved. For each of the card with the bug reports you posted on Steam Bug Report forum. Though, he's super slow because of his new born :) Anyway, we work on it daily and if you have some swifter good, trusted, reliable and reasonable programmer in your mind - please, PM me.

    41. Black Cloud Studios 4-time creator on

      Hi guys.

      It is hard to believe… but it looks like the prologue is set.

      I’ve just uploaded the new build on Steam fixing all bugs reported.

      What now… Technically, we’re ready for the soft launch among you, guys, and steam supporters - hard testing, but I would like to make small polishing for the coming week: like adding minor missing sounds hire and there, minor visual effect experiments, message about “You’ve successfully completed the prologue”, etc. So, if you meet some relevant bug during this coming week – please, report there so that we have time to amend it: http://steamcommunity.com/app/335850/discussions/2/

      After that period I’m going to write/post an official Kickstarter Update.
      So this post is for early birds :)

    43. Vincent on

      It's April and there has been no update to the game on Steam?

      Also your last post lacks any dates.

    44. Pabs Fernandez on

      Thanks for the update :)

    45. Black Cloud Studios 4-time creator on

      Hi guys! One of our Co-Founders, Okarix, asked why there was no updates on KS since the October and what’s the status of the development/release. I got some of the backers could miss the info and/or did not installed SEA build yet (hence, they don’t see notification when Steam updates the build). Thus, I feel like to copy-past my answer as it sheds light on the question: "Wheeeeeeeeeeen?!":

      Actual question. Well, as I wrote in the huge Patch #100816 Update (8 October, 2016), the next one big update should be the release one. Albeit, since that October patch release we’ve kept adding features/content and applying swift patches to come to the release version. You might notice your SEA build on Steam (if the game was installed) has updated every 3-7 days since with 30-120Mb each time.

      Here I’ve kept folks updates with every step on that pinned Steam forum "Current Work In Progress": http://steamcommunity.com/app/335850/discussions/0/611703999964964217

      For these months we’ve added the combat mechanics, exterior, monsters, Keren, finalized Ground level, containers, etc. We also collected a decent bug reports from testers in the "Bug Reports" http://steamcommunity.com/app/335850/tradingforum/ discussion: most crucial of them indicated serious issues with the saving/loading/restarting mechanics. Other are relatively minor.

      So... The current plan live is:

      • Advanced Programmers are now on fixing/reworking Saving/Loading mechanics;
      • Junior Programmers are on visual enhancing features (like AAA volumetric and physical correct blood particles and other impacts; extra combat animation embedding like evasive movements or various death anims; VFX for drones laser weapons; etc.);
      • Beyond the conducting all the activities above, I toil on sounds with Marius (for male/female characters and monsters) and scripting the final cut scenes for each ending for the prologue.

      The second and third terms (features adding) are basically to effectively spend time while waiting for the completion of revamping Saving/Loading mechanics. After that fix is done, I am going to direct Advanced Programmers to add three crucial (IMHO) extension for the combat mechanic (player should be able to run away while in combat; equipped apparel should properly affect character stats in combat; player should be able to switch active weapon modes in combat like normal/burst/aim).

      That is all.

      After the major tasks above are done I was intended to make a closed post on Kickstarter to aspire you, guys, join a week of hard test. By the end of that week, I would like to conduct closed voting/discussion among the bakers and decide together: "Are you happy with the game AR RPG has turned to be? Are we ready to official release? Can we spread the build among the game media?"

    46. Black Cloud Studios 4-time creator on

      Doing my best, lokiracer.
