Our founders are three friends who met at the University of Pittsburgh in a meeting they all weren’t supposed to attend. The first had a keen eye for aesthetics, design, and style, along with a family heritage in world class Swiss watchmaking. The second was entrepreneur-like, innovative and resourceful. The third had a mathematician's view of geometry and proportions, creating a complementary and multidisciplinary team.
Our name, BJØRN, is inspired by Bjorn Eriksson, King of Sweden, and derived from our goal; to disrupt the watch industry and to give back to the community. According to history, Vikings explored Europe by sea for trade, raids, colonization and conquest, and were seen as brutal raiders, but King Bjorn was not only a fearless leader, as he was well acquainted with his ways and manners, and in his lifetime his kingdom stood in great power, and no kind of want was felt.
As most college students and young professionals, we could not afford quality goods, and much like King Bjorn, we believe everyone deserves a chance to. We were tired of the fast-fashion mass produced over priced minimalist watches that were flooding the market, so we decided to use all of our savings to disrupt the industry. We spent months perfecting our designs, sourcing quality materials, and finding the best factories around the world. We buy directly from them, eliminating the middleman, allowing you to purchase the highest quality products at the lowest price point.
As a part of BJØRN’S mission, we are not only committed to giving our most valued asset, time, but also our resources. After the campaign is complete and our company is funded, 10% of every watch sale will be donated to a philanthropic organization of your choice to help children in need around the world. Our mission is to put a watch on every university student and young professionals wrist, therefore we must first collaborate to ensure that there will be an ever growing number of kids studying and bettering themselves and the world we share.
Our first model, called “Andy,” was inspired by Pittsburgh legendary artist Andy Warhol and his ability to transform everyday objects into art. We set out to design a high quality minimalist watch that was elegant, refined, and versatile for every occasion at an affordable price for students and young professionals like ourselves.
When designing “Andy” we made sure to keep in mind our target audience, university students and young professionals like ourselves, who cannot afford to buy countless watches to suit every occasion. Unlike many watch companies, we don’t believe in making you buy another watch just to have a different strap. This is why all of our watches come with two easily interchangeable straps of your choice and the possibility to purchase additional straps, allowing for a total of 24 possible combinations. In addition, our straps will be interchangeable with our future watch models. A true bang for your buck.
We hope that with your help we will be able to launch the first transparent watch company that exclusively focuses on designing minimal watches for young people who are just starting out in the real world. We are not seeking to make a large profit on our product, but rather we are dreaming that all of our fellow students and young professionals can wear an elegant, refined, and versatile watch that will accompany them in their first dates, interviews, and jobs.
We are already focused on the future and working with more young creatives from all corners of the world, such as Barcelona, New York, and Punta del Este, to bring to you more innovatively minimal new designs, such as the following:
Production: Members of our team travelled to the Canton Fair in Guangzhou to meet, test quality, and hand pick our manufacturer. We met many manufactures and chose this one not only because they assured great quality and timely delivery, but because they expressed the highest ethical standards and stood against child labor and fast fashion, two cornerstones of our foundation.
Delivery: Jero, one of our co-founders, has vast experience in logistics and international commerce. We partnered with Shipwire Fulfillment Center to fulfill all of our domestic and international orders. They are located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania near our HQ’s, so that if an issue ever arises we can personally see to it.
Due to the terms and conditions of crowdfunding we are not allowed to donate any of the backer money raised, but we are allowed to promise that in the future once our company is funded, we will be donating 10% of all of our sales to a philanthropic organization of your choice to help children around the world.
Once you have backed us, we will be contacting you to determine which colorway combination you desire and which children philanthropic organization you wish BJØRN to help. After all of our backers have casted their vote, the most voted organization will receive 10% of our future sales.

Risks and challenges
We have talked to several manufacturers in person and hand-picked the one we are currently working on. The watches you saw on our video and photos are already functional prototypes that had QA by both the manufacturer and ourselves. After we fund the company, we will be able to replicate these prototypes in mass production.
Nonetheless, although the product is important, it its the structure of the team which is even more important. We formed a diverse, multi disciplinary and complementary team to cover all potential issues, especially the ones which tend to be more difficult as production, international shipping and legal issues. What is more, we partnered with strategic companies to be able to overcome all major issues.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
