BIV’s album project culminates in the creation of a new Holiday CD, featuring new gospel arrangements of traditional holiday songs from many different countries. The songs will be sung by more than fifty of Broadway’s best singers, accompanied by a first-class orchestra, and the always brilliant BIV band.
In 2003, the Broadway Inspirational Voices released the Holiday CD: “Great Joy: A Gospel Christmas”. In 2004 “Great Joy” received a Grammy nomination for Best Orchestration with Vocal. Now, BIV is gearing up to create the highly anticipated follow up CD, Great Joy II: Around The World! This album promises an exciting assortment of carols and holiday tunes from numerous countries including France, Canada, England, Ireland and Germany as well as new songs all written and arranged by Grammy Award nominees, Michael McElroy and Joseph Joubert. The outstanding singers of BIV will will once again lift their exceptional voices in song to celebrate diverse holiday traditions, and your participation will make it happen.
"The top pic this year is 'GREAT JOY - A GOSPEL CHRISTMAS'... The group's sound is thrilling and McElroy's taste in material is superb." - David Hurst, Show Business Weekly
BIV is producing the entire album from start to finish. With today’s technology, there are many ways to be efficient and limit costs. However, there are still many expenses involved to make a first rate recording and that's why we are here. The funds we raise go directly toward expenditures: studio rentals, professional engineers, superb musicians, mastering fees, artwork & design, as well as CD manufacturing costs and legal/production staff. Your partnership supports this entire process and allows us to produce the quality CD that you’ve come to expect from BIV.
In order to reach our goal, we’ve designed our project in two phases. The first is to record the choir and band. Phase 2 is to record the orchestra, as well as mix and master the entire CD. This campaign is primarily to fund Phase 1, but any funds received above our goal will lead us directly into Phase 2.
WHERE YOU COME IN...
By taking a few moments to contribute and spread the word, you are helping to bring our new BIV music to life. Not only will you receive some extraordinary rewards (including unique gifts of thanks from BIV members and their friends from the Broadway community), you’ll become an integral part of the entire process of creating new global holiday traditions. Updates will be posted here, so stay tuned for more information, and kindly keep watching our project as we go. You never know when we might add a new reward! BIV’s recording will be in full swing this Fall, and the album release is scheduled for Fall 2015.
We’re grateful for you and your part in helping to give BIV this opportunity to create music that celebrates life! We have listed several fun and unique rewards on the right side of this page as our way of saying, thank you. Every contribution is sincerely appreciated.
Together we can make this happen. By being a part of the creation of Great Joy II, you can be among the fabulous folks who can proudly say, “I helped BIV make a CD.” ! Grace & Peace.

Risks and challenges
Recording a full album requires organization, scheduling and time commitment. BIV is helmed by Founder and Director, Drama Desk, TONY Award and Grammy Award nominee Michael McElroy. He is a Broadway performer and songwriter, as well as a full-time professor at NYU Tisch School of the Arts. Michael’s Co-writer/arranger is Broadway orchestrator and Grammy Award nominee Joseph Joubert. Joseph also stands as the Musical Director and conductor of "Motown:The Musical" on Broadway. BIV's vocalist and volunteers are all amazingly talented performers with their own busy careers and demanding schedules. Every member creates room in their schedules to lend their gifts to the BIV performances and mission. BIV knows the difficulty of recording and releasing a album, and is prepared.
Funding on Kickstarter is ALL OR NOTHING. This means, in order for us to receive the money you pledge to this project we must meet or exceed our goal within the specified period. If we are not able to do this ... we will not receive any of your contributions. :-( However, a project can be over-funded. If we exceed our target amount, all of the incredible donations will go to our project. This campaign focuses on Phase 1 of our CD project and is considerably less than the total cost. If we surpass our goal, these much needed resources will go toward the entire budget.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
