BiteMyApple is a New York City-based online retailer that features products funded on crowdfunding websites like Kickstarter. After backing my first project on Kickstarter (the Cosmonaut) while couch surfing on a friend’s sofa… a voice kind of spoke to me and said….”it’s time for you create your own website and start featuring and selling products/projects from Kickstarter. 7 days later we launched BiteMyApple.
6 years in as an online retailer, it's now time for us to open the first crowdfunding-themed retail store in New York City so we can feature a multitude of successfully funded products to the amazing community in the Bowery. We plan to carry specific products that have inspired us. We strongly believe in the power of crowdfunding: you’ll find that we even blog about some unrelated projects in order to bring them the exposure (and hopefully funding) that they deserve!
When Visiting NYC
With a dedicated space available just for you the creative Kickstarter creators that would like to showcase they’re currently live or demo your project to the neighborhood shoppers, maybe you have a prototype you would show and invite bloggers, press to see it in person.
Winter or Spring?
Found a nice finished location in the Bowery area of NYC next door to locals favorites the Morgenstern’s Finest Ice Cream shop at 2 Rivington Street. But the landlord is asking $25,000 for a 6-week popup during the peak season. Of course, I would like to have it for a longer period of time, so the more we collect from the backers the longer we can stay. With a possibility of becoming a permanent resident of the building.
Why We Need Your Pledges
- Pedestals, tables, shelving and even shopping bags
- Staff, signage and Free Wifi
- And the most important part. Product inventory
So technically $25K gets us in but we need more to stay open longer and have all kinds of interesting products not featured on BiteMyApple. Most will be exclusive to the store and not sold on our site. Plus we need a lot of product inventory.
Lot's of Updates
We plan on updating you on the projects or products coming to the store. And we also want to hear from you, in the comment section let us know what you would like to see in the store.
"You can also help us reach our goal by pledging for the following"
We really could use the Kickstarter community for some help. So please share.
Thank you Chris and George
Hope to see you at our store this winter or spring 2018. Can't make it? We'll always have something online for you.
Risks and challenges
Found a place in NYC all setup and ready for us unless things change and a better spot comes up. If we don't make it in time for the holiday season we plan on opening up the store in the spring of 2018 after the winter season is over.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
