Surprisingly, the 2016 presidential election is the reason Fluid Style Co. exists. Like many people during the week after the election, Alex Anders, co-founder of Fluid Style Co, was rattled. He had spent the week desperately trying to figure out how it could have happened. So, when Saturday night rolled around, he needed to get out.
It was on that night that Alex met Adam, an investor in small companies. Being a bestselling bisexual-romance author, and host of a bisexual empowerment YouTube channel, Alex suggested Adam invest in the emerging bisexual market. Adam liked the idea and, that night, Fluid Style Co was born.
The question still remained, what products would their new venture produce. It had to be something that empowered the bisexual community. The answer came when a couple of Alex's bisexual friends complained about not finding flannels in the pride flag colors. So using Alex's 15 years of apparel experience and Adam's 18 years of manufacturing experience, they worked with a local clothing designer to create Fluid Style Co's first clothing line.
Alex, and Fluid Style Co, has had a number of challenges along the way, including Adam leaving the company to take care of his disabled daughter as she started college. But, with designs finalized, samples made, and a manufacturer chosen, all that's left is to write the check and begin manufacturing.
Being the voice for those who don't have one has been Alex Anders' mission for a long time. That is the role he envisions Fluid Style Co will play in the business community for bisexuals.
Please help Fluid Style Co and the bisexual community by backing this project. Doing so, you will be giving an often overlooked community a voice, and making the invisible visible.
Our Community Outreach:
Fluid Style Co was never meant to be just a clothing company. Even before our first shirt was produced, we traveled around the country to Pride Festivals sometimes being the only bisexual representation at the event.
On top of that, Fluid Style Co has been the primary sponsor of the Bisexual Representation Awards. Having concluded it's 2nd successful year, the Bisexual Representation Awards are voted on by fans and was created to reward positive portrayals of bisexuals on TV, while motivating Hollywood to create more.
Our flannels are designed to be the softest flannels in your wardrobe. Not only are we designing the fabric patterns ourselves, we are brushing them twice to ensure that it is the most comfortable clothing in your closet.
In anticipation of a successful campaign, we have designed four color patterns. Each pattern uses the flag colors of an often overlooked group.
These poly/cotton dress shirts were designed to be wrinkle resistant and silky soft against your skin. Tailored for men, they are shirts that you can wear to work no matter the dress code.
Pocket Plaid T-shirts:
After testing many fabrics, we chose a poly blend for these t-shirts. Far softer and more resistant to wrinkles than cotton, these t-shirts retain their shape and size no matter how much you wash them.
Don't see the reward you want? Let us know and we'll add it. Request a reward
To ensure that we can meet our funding goal, we have set our initial target as low as we can. If we only meet our initial funding goal, our rewards will remain unchanged.
If you support our project and we exceed our initial target, we can manufacture more colors and items. That also means that we can unlock new corresponding rewards. Here are our stretch goals and the rewards they will unlock.
With our current target, there isn't much room to breath. Below is a breakdown on how we will use whatever support you give us. And if we were to exceed our initial funding goal, all of it will go into producing more styles and colors.
Fluid Style Co's journey here hasn't always been easy, but we used every setback as an opportunity to make the clothing the softest and most comfortable they could be. Having gone through an exhaustive refining process in India, we now have an experienced manufacturing team in China. They are both wonderful to work with and excited to get started.
Here is a look at our production timeline and how we got here.
Thank you for considering our project. Your backing is all we need to make our dream a reality. I hope that you will see it in your heart to back our campaign. It would mean the world to us, and you might even be able to change the lives of someone you know who is secretly feeling very alone.
Please back our campaign.
Risks and challenges
Although Fluid Style Co is a new company, this isn't the team's first rodeo. Our founder has been in the apparel business since 2005 and with our production partners we have decades of experience bringing high-quality clothing to market. Our factory partner is ready to go. And we've already gone through a full sampling and testing process to ensure the final production will be to our exact spec.
While we've done this before, and we've done our best to prepare, there can still be delays in production from things like factory delays and tariffs. Also, our manufacturer is based in China and China is currently going through a much need change in environmental policy. That change has affected the clothing manufacturing industry in China greatly. So, although we don't think this will cause any more delays, delays are possible as China's garment industry adjusts to the changes.
To counter any possible delays, however, we have significantly overestimated our production time. You may get your reward sooner than expected. But, barring any unforeseen circumstances, you should receive your rewards at least on time. And Alex Anders, founder of Fluid Style Co and host of BisexualRealTalk on YouTube, will be keeping you up-to-date every step of the way.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
