We have been been collaborating for years - our two bands - Po' Girl and JT and the Clouds -- have bled into a big, loving, only mildy-dysfunctional circus family of music, playing on each others albums and touring together all over the world. This duo album is the culmination of that -- and features most of that family as the backing band.
The last album we worked on together, mountains/forests, was technically a solo JT Nero record, but featured Alli on every song. It got such a good response from fans and critics (number 2 release of 2011 in Americana UK!), that we didn't want to waste any time in making our first offical duo album, Birds of Chicago.
We are recording it right here in our beloved Humboldt Park in Chicago with the great Zach Goheen producing. It is a joy to make, and we are asking our friends, family, and fans to help us bring this music to the world.
Records cost money -- trust us, we are being thrifty - we aren't bringing in any children's choirs or traveling to the Galapagos Islands to record a dolphin pod singing for any backing tracks (this one was hard for Alli to let go of) - but it still takes a little over $20,000 to get the thing done right... we're asking you folks for $15,000. That'll get us close enough.
We have 30 days to raise $15,000. You can help spread the word by sharing this with your friends and family via email, facebook, and twitter.
We feel really good about this music we're making, and we've taken the leap of imagination that it'll make other people feel good, too. We thank you all in advance for helping us get it heard. We can't do this without you.
