THANK YOU! I am *over the moon* excited! We have reached our original goal and are adding stretch goals!
First Stretch Goal $10,000!
If we can reach $10,000 we will cover our fees from the original goal. It will allow for the original goal of 8K to go entirely to funding setting up the shop, the basic level POS system and a sign. The extra 2K will cover all of the fees associated with kickstarter and will cover the cost of rewards. This will be a huge help in getting this shop off on the right foot!
Second Stretch goal $12,500
If we are able to hit $12,000, we will put it toward all of our deposits and installation fees... and There are SO many! From gas, electric, internet, telephone, store rental deposit. This will free up our cash flow and make it a little easier for wiggle room during our first few months of operating while we get on our feet.
Third Stretch Goal $15,000
If we are able to hit $15,000, we can invest in a better point of sale system. I'm talking a scanner, bar codes, the whole shebang! I've learned over the years that efficiency is key. If we are able to have a point of sale that will save us time, we will be much better off. We will be able to ask for restocks quicker, check out customers faster and have a more successful and efficient business in turn.
I'm SO excited to share this retail space with you. If you are not local to Vermont, fear not, birdfolks, I will have a wonderful webstore as well! I have met so many talented folks throughout the years of being a maker. I am psyched at the prospect of curating an ever-changing selection of art, clothing, jewelry, pottery, etc. made by artisans and independent designers!
Birdfolk Collective is an eclectic shop where the do-it-yourself and handmade spirit thrives. Birdfolk Collective will host make-and-take workshops and have meeting nights for artists to connect. I want to cultivate a strong relationship between the artists of our community and the people who love to support handmade.
Rewards

Your pledges will help me to:
-Setting up shop. I am going to paint, install shelving, build a cash-wrap and dressing room.
-POS System. It is so important to keep track of all of the sales. If I can afford a POS system, it will integrate with our website and enable me to easily maintain inventory in house and online.
-Signage. I love the logo that local artist Sarah Ryan designed for Birdfolk Collective. I want to get a big ol' sign so folks driving by notice.
I plan on opening May 1st (a soft opening). Throughout the month of May, I will fine tune everything for the grand opening in early June!
Thank you so much to the artists who have contributed their time to this video, and the Onion River Boys for lending their tunes for the background music. Finally, thank YOU for supporting this project!
Risks and challenges
Thank you for supporting handmade! Local printer New Duds will be printing many of the rewards. I already have a streamlined shipping system set in place to get your orders to you as quickly as possible while maintaining the timeline for opening the store.
