Risks and challenges
Most of the risks & challenges for this anthology have already been addressed and/or overcome.
Wrangling over 25 artists is not always easy, but we've managed to nag them into submission. All art has been turned in, the book has been laid out and it is ready to be sent to the printer as soon as funding has been achieved.
Birdcage Bottom Books (the pubisher) is essentially a one man operation (me, J.T. Yost), so shipping out lots of books & rewards may be a lengthy process. However, I've been running both the publishing and distribution wings of BBB alongside being a full-time Mr. Mom to two kids (one infant) and a freelance illustrator for years, so I don't anticipate this being any more challenging. I've padded out time from our expected publication date to hopefully ensure that nobody is disappointed by a late delivery. If anything, I expect backers to be pleasantly surprised by an early delivery.
Some of the reward deliveries, such as custom artwork, will be out of my hands, but again I've tried to anticipate how long these may take to create and deliver. Also, I promise to be tenacious in reminding/threatening participating artists to deliver their rewards in a timely manner.
I should mention that our last anthology ("Digestate: a food & eating themed anthology") was funded by a successful Kickstarter campaign, so we do have experience with Kickstarter!
