It is true! We have reached our minimum Kickstarter goal! This means that the project *WILL* go through! Thank YOU backers and everybody sharing the project! We could not have done this without you!
Reaching our minimum goal is so Awesome, it allows us to *continue* to FUNdraise freely (with no worries or stress). It allows us to keep reaching towards our next goal. You see, we set the minimum goal based on what we thought we could successfully raise on Kickstarter. This minimum amount does not fully cover the costs associated with recording this Album. We have more funds to raise, so if you have not had a chance to pledge (and want to) or simply share, please take a moment to do so. It will only make this album even more AWESOME!!
Flex Goal #1 - When I raise $9,140...This is the goal that will allow me to do the project I really want to do! When I reach this goal, I will be able to go into The Heart Center recording studio for 3-4 days. It allows an extra day, if needed in the studio, so we do not have to rush through things. It will allow me to have all nine guest musicians and actually pay them a decent wage for their time and travel. It will allow me to feed the musicians/recording engineer well (organic, yummy food...and not just oatmeal, lentils, and rice!). It allows more time for mixing and mastering of both EPs. The Piano EP and the Electronic EP will be on separate discs with original artwork by me (packaged together). This goal is something to look forward to!
STEPPING UP: A Double EP by Milo Birch
Hi, I am Milo Birch. I am an 11 year old composer/musician getting ready to go into a professional recording studio. I *Love* making music! I cannot wait to learn and experience the entire recording process and be able to share it with you! Sharing my music with you makes me so happy and I hope it makes you happy too! This is why I am doing this project. This has been my homeschooling work since December and now, I need your help to make this project a reality. First, let me tell you a little bit about my Kickstarter goals, then feel free to check out more videos and detailed project information below. Thank you for visiting my page and helping make this project a success!
MY KICKSTARTER GOALS
Minimum Viable Project a.k.a Official Kickstarter Goal - When I raise $5,480: This is the bare bones minimum amount needed to make this project happen and still be happy with the results. This amount allows me to go into The Heart Center Recording Studio for 2-3 days. I will have a recording engineer and some guest musicians come and join me on some songs, but their time and my ability to pay and feed them will be limited. Mixing and mastering will also be limited to only the Piano EP. The Electronic EP will be mixed and mastered to the best of my ability in my home studio. Both EPs will be on one disc (rather than the preferred two discs) and 500 discs will be duplicated. Raising this amount will be sweet and a huge help, but I will have to pay out of pocket for some expenses.
One thing I have learned creating this project: Recording an Album is EXPENSIVE!!! My project goal does not include some major expenses, thanks to the generosity of Margaret and Michael Erlewine and my Mom and Dad! They are donating expenses like studio time, musician housing, countless hours of pre-production, and producer fees. I am creating the album artwork myself too, so that expense is covered as well.
MORE ABOUT THE PROJECT
I have been playing music my whole life (as long as I can remember). When I was nine, I self-recorded two albums at home and I am ready to take my musical experience to the next level...recording an album in a professional recording studio! This album will feature a double EP with all of my own compositions.
One EP will feature me on Piano with guest musicians. I have gathered an entire band of amazing Michigan musicians! As some of you already know, I have played the last two years in a row at the Earthwork Harvest Gathering with some of these musicians as my back up band (Seth Bernard on Guitar, Joshua Davis on Bass, Tyler Duncan on Synthesizer, Mike Lynch on Keys, and Dan Rickabus on Drums). Also added to this righteous line-up are Samantha Cooper and May Erlewine on Violin, Micah Ling on Cello, and Kiah Staley (my sister) on Piano. We will be going into the The Heart Center Recording Studio in Big Rapids the beginning of May to record.
The second EP will feature me on my gadgets here in my home studio. I will include some of the same compositions from the Piano version, and there will be other compositions as well. This EP will be made electronically. I will use my synthesizers, laptop, and controllers to create something unique and awesome! Both EPs will be packaged together as one album with original artwork by me!
Thank You for taking the time to read this all the way to the bottom. My family and I have been working hard on this project and are excited to make it happen! So please take a look at the rewards on the right and choose your favorite one. Thanks again! ----------->
