Hi folks, it's been a while since we posted our last update. We've news to share about HMS being nominated for honours at this year's TIGA Industry Awards as well as updates on the status of the physical rewards, our plans for the future and we also wanted to share another project currently on Kickstarter that we think would be of interest to keen adventure gamers.
HMS Nominated for TIGA Award
We're very pleased to announce that by creatively ridiculing our heritage Her Majesty's SPIFFING has been nominated for the Creativity and Heritage Award at this year's TIGA Industry Awards. Ironic indeed, and obviously very flattering too.
TIGA, for the uninformed, is a trade association representing the UK video games industry (not to be mistaken for a Canadian electronic music producer). The Independent Game-developers' Association hosts their annual award ceremony on November 2nd in the Victoria and Albert Museum in merry 'ole London.
In addition to being nominated for the Creativity and Heritage Award the overall Game of the Year will be decided by an online public vote. Should you feel so inclined to put a vote in for ourselves (or any of the other nominees) simply follow this link here.
Firstly, again, thank you to everybody who backed the campaign, hopefully by now you've had a chance to play our game and feel that it was worth while supporting. Without your help it simply wouldn't have been made.
According to our records everybody that submitted a response to the original survey has received either a Steam key for the game or a download link via the Humble Store. However, some people have been in touch to say that they haven't received anything. If you're in the same boat please check your spam folder and/ or get in touch with me using Kickstarter's direct messenger (to ensure that nothing gets filtered into spam or deleted by accident).
At this point all the DVD boxes of the game have been distributed, backers should have received the pack pictured below, featuring a copy of the game and a sample of delicious Miss McKeown's Emporium of Fine Tea tea.
A wide variety of flavours are of course available to order from Miss McKeown's website should you wish to purchase more. The Miss McKeown herself is a friend of the Goat, a great girl who's business we are more than happy to shamelessly promote here!
If you were expecting a DVD and it hasn't arrived send me a direct message through Kickstarter. Also, we've had at least one report of a DVD being damaged in the post. If this has happened to yourself, again, get in touch via DM.
T-Shirts and Emblems
There are still people waiting on t-shirts and emblems. If truth be told we've had some issues regarding the quality of the emblems and are looking for an alternate supplier. I'll hopefully have more information about this soon, apologies for the delay. People are still waiting on t-shirts too, we are expecting another delivery of the grey t-shirts pictured below. These will make their way to yourselves soon, sorry for the delay and thank you for your patience.
Also on Kickstarter Outsider Games, another friend of the Goat, are in the middle of a campaign to fund Jennifer Wilde, a Parisian adventure game adaptation of the comic book featuring the ghost of famous Irish playwright, Oscar Wilde. Check out their pitch video below.
Adventure game fans will be familiar with Outsider's previous title, Wailing Heights, another adventure featuring otherworldly beings praised for its comic book aesthetic, amusing story and toe tapping sound track.
For those that are keen to try an early version of their new game Outsider have released a Windows demo that can be downloaded here (this is of course from an early version of the game so, by their own admission, there are a few rough edges, but expect those to be smoothed out in the finished game).
Stephen and the crew over at Outsider are top guys and big adventure game fans, we're sure they'll do a stellar job and know they would greatly appreciate your support.
Until next time
We will be at Game Connection in Paris talking to people with much deeper pockets than ourselves in November in our quest to get to work on the sequel to HMS. Naturally we'll keep you all in the loop with our progress. Again, thank you to everybody for your ongoing help and support, we'll speak again soon!
