Merry Christmas!

2016, ey? What a year? I just wanted to take a quick moment to reflect on the year that was and share our plans for 2017, but before all that here's festive message from Aled and Captain Frank Lee English!

2017 and beyond

So now Her Majesty's SPIFFING: The Empire Staggers Back is out what next I hear you ask. Well, as those of you that have been following our campaign (or completed the game!) will know development of part two of our planned trilogy very much depends on how this first game performs in the wild. It was a difficult time of year to release a new title that isn't an established IP, and I'd be lying if I said we haven't found it very difficult to court the gaming press to get our message out there. That being said the game is still receiving very favourable reviews, the chief criticism being that people are left wanting more, which I guess isn't all that bad.

We plan to support the game and bring it to new platforms in 2017, basically we want to get the game in front of as many people as possible to create a good case for funding a sequel. As ever your help in spreading the word (however you can!) is very much appreciated, do keep an eye on our Twitter for the most up to date news to share.

Gettin' Physical

Nothing to do with the 80s smash hit by Olivia Newton-John I just wanted to update people on their physical rewards. We really threw everything at this game, all the money we had can be seen on the screen! Thankfully sales have been going alright through December so we'll be ordering these rewards in the new year. Apologies for the delay, ideally we would have liked to be shipping these closer to the game's release but I hope people understand the delay.

In the press

As I said since our last post the game has been reviewed in another few places, see below:

  • GameReactor UK, 9/10 (PS4) - Now that the credits have rolled we're left hoping for the return of captain English and sub lieutenant Jones (if the game sells well, so says the devs). The writing is very funny and although the game is short, it's full of laughs.
  • This Is Xbox, 7.1/10 (Xbox One) - Her Majesty’s SPIFFING does a great job as a British tongue-in-cheek take on the likes of Broken Sword and Monkey Island. The graphics are perfect for the aim of the game and the voice-acting and scripting in the game is brilliant for the player.

I just want to finish 2016 by mentioning the main guys responsible for creating Her Majesty's SPIFFING, these chaps have worked tremendously over the last few years with me and you wouldn't be able to play our game now without them. This has been a tough journey and it is far to say that it has burned a few people out, but I think that Ryan Brown, Peter Adamson, Darren Beattie and Paul Kelly can be very proud of what they achieved.

I'll post another update in the New Year, if you're stuck for any last minute present ideas why not gift a game on Steam? *Ahem*

Anyway, again, thank you everyone for your support, I hope all have a great Christmas/ Hanukkah/ whatever you're celebrating as 2016 draws to a close. Looking forward to sharing more with yourselves in 2017.

Merry Christmas!

- Will
