Hello update seeker!
We thought we'd take a moment to introduce you to Antoine Bonaparte, as voiced by the talented Cyrus Nemati. Check out the delightful video below, it's short but should go some way to illustrate the relationship English will enjoy with this friend from the continent.
Antoine and his subordinate Pierre play a key role towards the latter half of The Empire Staggers Back and Cyrus has provided a performance that terms such as subtle, restrained and understated in no way accurately describe.
Rover and out
We also thought we'd share another character of sorts, namely the Beagle Two Too, the British crew's high tech reconnaissance rover.
Our Beagle Two Too is a spiritual successor to the infamous Martian lander, the Beagle 2, a craft that until very recently was assumed to have been obliterated in a crash on the Martian surface. Prof Mark Sims, when summarising the events leading to loss of contact with the lander, should be commended for his valiant, typically British positivity in the face of adversity, proudly calling the mission a 'success'... in spite of the mission being widely regarded an abject failure. In a country were Colin Montgomerie, Jimmy White and Tim Henman are celebrated sports stars Britain is a nation that, arguably more than any other, loves the nearly guy!
However, while the design of our Beagle is radically different to the 'petal' design of the original Martian explorer it is unlikely to meet any better a fate!
Music to your ears
We hope to have a few samples of music for you in our next update, we'll also hopefully have some good news to bring as post GDC (I'll be in attendance along with a contingent of other UK developers on the show floor, if you're planning on being in town do 'drop me a line').
In the meantime here is a screenshot with a depth of field post effect.
2015 is shaping up to be the year of the space faring adventure game, one particularly pleasing on the eye is the self proclaiming 'retro-sexy' point and click cross shoot 'em up Star Mazer. And we are inclined to agree, Star Mazer does look very sleek indeed. They're doing well but could do with a bit more support to hit their target so head over to their campaign page and lend a hand if you can.
Again we feel we have to mention Chelle Destefano and her campaign Roam the Blue Ghost. Chelle is looking for funding to produce a run of books containing her beautiful illustrations. She only has a few days left so do venture over to her page and check her project out too!
We'll have more news for you soon, thanks as ever for your support!
