THE FLAME: RE-BLAZED #1 - A superhero "Quickstarter" comic
25 pages of silliness! We've reinterpreted two classic stories featuring the public domain hero THE FLAME!
This project will only be funded if it reaches its goal by Sat, September 29 2018 12:00 AM UTC +00:00.
THE FLAME: RE-BLAZED #1 is a 25-page, black-and-white comic book telling two short stories featuring a public domain superhero named THE FLAME.
I took an old public domain comic book from 1942 and without reading it, I re-wrote the first two stories entirely based on the original panel art and my sense of humour. The result is two new THE FLAME stories set in the retro-futurist Australia of the year 2055.
This comic is NOT FOR KIDS!
So... is this comic book for you?
If you grew up on superheroes like The Tick and Earthworm Jim, and/or enjoy stoner comedy like Pineapple Express and Mike Epps, then I reckon you'll dig this comic.
But just to be sure, here are a few of the completed pages (with swears censored just in case some littlies are reading):
$1,500 - LOCKED: COMING SOON!
Praise for THE FLAME: RE-BLAZED #1*
"I rov rydropronic romedy. But rad ruys are roo scrary. Mmm... Ramburgers!" Scooby Doo - Beloved detective from TV and film.
"So, if I give you a quote you'll leave me the [CENSORED] alone? Good. I loved... what's it [CENSORED] called? Right. I loved The Flame: Rebirth. Now get the [CENSORED] away from me!" Ted - Enchanted living teddy-bear and movie star.
" ... " Silent Bob - Stoner hanging out in front of a convenience store.

THE PLEDGE LEVELS
To add either of these to your pledge, just go to 'Manage your Pledge' and add the respective amount to your total. After the campaign ends we'll send you a survey to sort it all out, and you'll get your extra loot. Simple as that.
$1,500 - LOCKED: TOXIC BASTARD gaming miniature - 1x Physical 28mm miniature for CATASTROPHIC and END OF THE WORLD pledge levels. Digital Blueprint for all levels.
WHERE IS ALL THAT MONEY GOING?
The $500 I'm asking for is going towards paying for the initial print run of THE FLAME: RE-BLAZED #1. About 10% of that goes toward Kickstarter fees and processing fees. Anything above the goal will go towards getting cocaine and hookers (but really, it'll get us started on our next comic book project).
International Shipping Information
Shipping from Australia can be BRUTALLY expensive for international backers. I'm a simple man, but I've done what I can to make things more affordable to people in the US and UK.
I'm really excited to announce that, in addition to our primary printer here in Australia (Jefferies), we've also got printers in the USA (KA-BLAM) and UK (CPUK) which means if you live in either of those countries, we can get your comics to you for just AU$8 postage, which is way better than trying to post from down under (AU$19+).
Unfortunately there's nothing I can do about the postage costs for T-shirts ($50 tier) or for backers outside the USA, UK or Australia. If those costs are too high for you, I'd recommend a digital reward tier ($2 or $30).
I'm just a man, sitting in front of a computer screen, asking the world to love his comics and pledge on his Kickstarter.
THE FLAME: RE-BLAZED was hatched from the egg-like cranium of Big Tim with his brother Nate. Assembling a team of other rowdy characters (S. Greenleaf, Matt Kyme, and Ahmed Raafat) they managed to bring this crazy idea to life as an actual comic book!
BIG TIM STILES (Writer / Crazy Boy):
Big Tim Stiles is an Australian writer and actor who has been working in the creative arts for over two decades. After four years of writing comic book reviews he dove into writing his own comics, starting with his paranormal investigator/monster hunter Cthulhu Williams before venturing onto his webcomic Gorilla my Dreams.Contact:
NATE STILES (Letterer / Fart Noises):
Nate Stiles is a life long Incredible Hulk fan, and has absolutely no experience in the comic book industry. Big Tim only let his younger brother in on this project because their mum told him to.
Probably a good idea if you don't connect with this guy on social media...
S. GREENLEAF (Editor / Rager Against all Machines)
Quickly becoming known as ‘The Leditor,’ Shawn is the script editor & production manager for Gorilla My Dreams. He’s worked on almost all of Big Tim’s comic projects, contributing in various ways to the Cthulhu Williams comic as well.
His resume also includes Lettering & Editing for the following series: the apocalyptic horror series, Escape from Jesus Island, the fantasy/western Oathbound, the grindhouse series The Infernal Pact/Whore of Babylon, and the all-ages ghost hunter story, Full Moon Fredo.
To be quite honest, that’s just a few of the projects he works on. He’s a proverbial ‘glutton for creative punishment’ and just can’t say ‘No’ when a new, exciting project comes his way.
MATT KYME (Covers / One Helluva Nice Guy):
Matt Kyme is the man who does not sleep, creator of the brand new smash hit The Wrath of the Cursed! Matt’s previous comic The Demon; a 1930’s inspired white hat masked adventure, was shortlisted for a 2017 Ledger Award and quickly became one of the most iconic Australian independent comics.
Matt has released a number of comics and graphic novels and has contributed writing and/or art to many Australian independent comics.
AHMED RAAFAT (T-Shirt Design / Dead-Set Legend)
Ahmed Raafat is an Egyptian comic book artist currently living in the UK. He is the co-creator of "El Osba" (Arabic for: The League), an independent Egyptian superhero comic book series, and co-creator of Gorilla my Dreams, a comic book about a crime fighting superhero who just so happens to be a talking gorilla. He is also always working on various comic book projects in and outside the UK.

Risks and challenges
There is always the possibility of an unexpected Drop Bear attack or a stampede of hungry Bunyips, which could make delivery of THE FLAME #1 troublesome. However, nothing short of that will derail my plans.
I've been a backer on Kickstarter for long enough to know that problems come up and delays happen. However THE FLAME #1 is a project I want to see succeed and any future plans I have any of my comic book projects rely 100% on the backers (YOU!) being happy and wanting to come back for more.
I can't promise to know every unexpected hurdle that comes my way, but I can promise to keep you in the loop every step of the way.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
