We Like to Dream BIG!
Dream Big Friends is a project imagined by two friends working in the toy industry, who both oversee the creation of countless toys and collectibles of every shape and size for some of the biggest brands around.
It wasn't until they became parents, able to watch their own children as they play, learn and grow, that they came to realize there may be a better imaginative play experience for children. One that does not focus on blue or pink, super model or super hero, but instead focuses on dreaming big, doing what you love, and aspiring to be happy.
The goal was to create a series of 10-inch-tall, articulated dolls based on characters that are as smart, funny, inquisitive and rambunctious as the kids we all know in our daily lives, and develop a story where these individuals live and grow. Out of that dream, Yuna and the Dream Big Friends were born as companions for kids all over the world.
Instead of focusing on fashion or action, we focused on aspiration, fun, and producing a creative play experience through exploration of the world around us. We set out to make something that we would feel genuinely GOOD about presenting to the entire planet, as well as to our own children.
We did not wish to cover our dolls in makeup or introduce them in the latest high fashion trends. We wanted to allow each character's unique qualities to shine through, packed with the basic things they would have on an average day when extraordinary things can happen. Our doll's primary accessory is possibility!
We've brought our project to Kickstarter in hopes of giving it the best chance at becoming a reality. More importantly, we are working through Kickstarter in the hope of finding an early audience who believe in what we are trying to achieve, and who understand the alternate choices we want to bring to kids around the world.
We've done all of the design, set up, preparation and hard work... now we need your help so that we can fully fund the tooling and production costs ... but most of all we need your help sharing this project with your friends!
We wanted our first doll, and all of her friends, to feel like very real characters filled with rich stories and personality - vessels for your imagination. We think that her design is simply beautiful, just like we believe every person is beautiful regardless of height, color or body type.
We are all beautiful in our own way, and we can be anything we can imagine.
Our wish is that Yuna and her Dream Big Friends will encourage all kids to embrace what makes them who and what they are, inside and out.

About the Dream Big Friends Dolls
Yuna and the Dream Big Friends doll line was inspired by our own children's interactions with mass market toys. We took note of how these toys are marketed and merchandised at retail, and in turn, how they influence, inspire, and leave impressions upon kids everywhere.
Instead of creating an "anti-fashion doll", we set out to focus on imaginative play, which is what toys are really there for, and create something we would feel really good about giving to our kids.
High grade materials and super attention to quality and design were important factors when creating Yuna from the ground up. Yuna is a 10-inch, fully articulated doll with real fabric clothing and accessories. We put our all into making her the best doll possible.
Yuna's body is somewhat non-realistic when it comes to proportions, as clothing on dolls starts to look strange once you model them on dolls based on a realistic human form. This is why some dolls have an oddly long neck. It's not entirely their fault! We believe we have found a healthy balance of character and design while keeping a positive body image in mind.
Yuna is just the first in an extensive line of Dream Big Friends dolls, and we hope you love Yuna enough that we can all go on this journey together. Our ultimate goal is to release the entire line, with all of her friends from many different countries and cultures. Yuna has friends from Seoul, Tokyo, NYC, LA, Paris, Dubai and beyond, and we can't wait to introduce them all to you!
Breaking New Ground...
Is Yuna the very first Asian American to be a central character in a doll line? We think she may be! It's about time!
If you join us and make Yuna a reality, we will be on our way to offering the world a fun alternative to the fashion dolls we all see out there.
There have been many discussions about body types and unrealistic proportions imposed through children's toys these days. We wanted Yuna and her friends to be free of those expected, traditional trappings that modern doll lines get caught up in. Dream Big Friends are UNIQUE individuals. This was very important to us.
We just added several lower reward tiers, including postcards, wall graphics, a 2016 calendar and button packs:
The $5 reward tier gets you a postcard from Yuna in January (mailed by snail mail!).
$10 will get you the postcard, a 6x9-inch wall calendar by our friends at Walls360 and two 3x3" wall graphics: a Yuna graphic and a Kamata graphic.
$20 will get you everything in the $10 tier, PLUS four additional wall graphics (for a total of 6) and a beautiful 4-button pack of 1.25" diameter buttons produced by OneInchRound.

Risks and challenges
Dream Big Friends will be ready to begin tooling when this Kickstarter wraps, and then production will come soon after. We do not anticipate any problems as we move through the production process, as we produce toys week in and week out for our clients. The only hiccups that tend to happen come in the form of delays - delivering the rewards later than anticipated due to unforeseen circumstances. We will try to be very mindful when publishing ship dates for the Dream Big Friends dolls in order to avoid such delays. Still, delays can happen at the factory, during shipping, and during customs inspection. We will do our best to keep everyone informed during each of those steps so there are no surprises.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
