Afterlife Inc. is a comic about a con-artist named Jack Fortune, who dies, discovers an afterlife in chaos, and decides to take over and run it like a business.
I've been publishing Afterlife Inc. online and in print since 2011. Now, after multiple adventures, twists, mysteries and near-life experiences, I'm incredibly excited to bring you the collected edition of Afterlife Inc. Volume 5: Glory Days.
For con-artist Jack Fortune, death was just another step up the corporate ladder. Faced with an afterlife in chaos, transforming heaven into a successful business was the only logical course of action. Since then, Afterlife Inc. has gone from strength to strength, overcoming countless challenges to become the undisputed kings of a brave new world.
So, what now?
The afterlife may be entering a golden age but across the Empyrean, the great golden city of the dead, cracks are starting to show. As the directors come to terms with recent trauma and their personal demons, a conspiracy is growing that threatens to tear down everything they hold dear.
From the lost final days of the afterlife's former rulers, to secrets too terrible to remain buried... Jack Fortune is about to realise that the higher you build, the further you have to fall.
Written by creator Jon Lock and illustrated by an amazing line-up of artists, Afterlife Inc. Volume 5: Glory Days takes us on a strange, wistful journey through the afterlife's past, present and future. These glory days can take their toll, and when you're at the top of your game, there's only one way to go from there.
Hi! My name's Jon Lock and I'm the creator and writer of Afterlife Inc. I'm also the co-founder of Big Punch Studios, a UK-based publisher that consists of four friends/creators. We're the team behind 7STRING, Extraversal, Cat & Meringue and numerous other adventures in comics. We're also responsible for Sandwich Masters - a card game about strategy, sabotage and (you guessed it) sandwiches - and several podcasts, including A Show Called Hate.
As you can see, I like to keep busy. Of all the projects I'm working on, however, Afterlife Inc. holds a special place in my heart. It's my baby - and Glory Days represents a major milestone for the series, one I could never have dreamed of reaching. I'm incredibly grateful to the kind and talented people who've helped bring my world to life. In addition to my brilliant wife and fellow Big Puncher Lucy, who lettered the entire book and kept me honest throughout, I have to thank the following artists, whose work ensured that Glory Days never looked anything less than exceptional.

A massive thank you to Lucy and all the artists listed above whose work features in the book. Special thanks also to Johnny Lynch, a.k.a Pictish Trail, for being a fantastic bloke and allowing us to reference tracks from his album Future Echoes throughout the book, and for permission to use the song 'After-Life' in our video. Thanks also to friends and colleagues Zosie Golding and Alice Angell (another Big Puncher) for their animation and editing skills.
Thank you for your support and love of Afterlife Inc. these past eight years. Believe me, it means the world - and I could never have got this far without you. Thank you for these glory days.
Risks and challenges
Afterlife Inc. Volume 5: Glory Days is 100% complete and ready to go. All we need is your support to cover the print costs. If we're successful, as soon as the project finishes and funding clears we'll go straight into production. While the book's being printed, we'll be sure to share the digital copies of the books, so that you have something to whet your appetite while you're waiting.
Our printer is incredibly reliable. We work with him all the time and I can't imagine anyone better suited to deliver an incredible book on time.
Our biggest challenge will be packaging and shipping all rewards, if only because this is always a massive task. However, as we've now successfully delivered rewards for six Kickstarter campaigns I'm confident that we can get the books into your hands as soon as possible. Of all the campaigns I've worked on, I've never been as prepared as I am for this one. If we do run into any unexpected delays, I'll be sure to keep you fully updated.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
