The BfR Pro ARMS is a simple addition to your sports kit that straps onto your arm during your workout to restrict the blood flow. With the right pressure you can train faster and get enhanced results – fewer kilos needed, just more reps – and still develop the muscle definition you’re aiming for.
Each BfR Pro ARMS has single-hand fitting and release with anti-slip stripes for easier fitting and adjustment to the right pressure.

The story so far
We’ve spent a year testing different prototypes, different materials and different suppliers to get the formula right.
It looks really simple – but don’t be fooled by that! The choice of elastic and the production techniques not only ensure a durable product, but one that works efficiently – and safely – using blood flow restriction (occlusion) to improve the outcome of your workouts, with less effort.
It’s not rocket science – far from it – that is the point! But it gets the job done – this is what some of our team of product testers say.
How to use the BfR Pro ARMS
The science behind BFR trainingThe concept of BFR training or occlusion training is not new, it was first discovered in Japan back in the 1960s by a man named Yoshiaki Sato, who later became the inventor of the KAATSU training principle. Often BFR, occlusion, and KAATSU training methods are used interchangeably to describe this form of training, but there are some variations.
The concept is that by restricting part of the blood flow from your extremity like your arm or leg, it will cause a pooling of blood to occur in your muscles along with increased levels of lactic acid forcing your muscle cells to grow and triggers a state of hypertrophy (muscle growth) by increasing the level of growth hormone from your brain.
The muscles react to the decrease in oxygen level caused by the restricted blood flow forcing them to work harder and fatiguing the fast twitch (Type II) muscle fibres, which are the ones with the highest growth potential compared to the slow twitch (Type I).
The best part is that you should only do your sets using between 20-50% of your 1RM (i.e. 20-50% of what you can lift one time only) in weights.
How to perform BFR training?
To perform practical BFR training the pressure applied by your BfR Pro ARMS will need to be adjusted. We recommend following these tips based on up-to-date scientific research.
The alternative to the BfR Pro ARMS is to use air pressure controlled equipment such as the patented KAATSU machinery. However, this very expensive equipment is not easily accessible or affordable for most people.
The story of BfR Professional
BfR Professional was founded by Martin and Lars. They have been working hard on this project with a shared passion for fitness and keeping in shape; you’ll find them in the gym most days.
They have experienced first-hand how tough it is to keep lifting heavy weights in order to get the best results from training. The heavyweight approach takes a toll not only on your body, but also on your motivation to stick to your training regime.
One day Martin found an article online describing this new and innovative form of training called BFR or occlusion training, which he then wanted to try out with Lars. However, they couldn’t find any equipment that was available to perform BFR training.
That was when the lightbulb went on! They could not be the only people who wanted to use this kind of training, so they decided to create the product to fulfil that need.
Now the research and testing has been done it’s time to get it off the launch pad – and that’s where you can help.

The BfR Pro ARMS is only the first step. The support from the Kickstarter community will enable us to deliver on our promised deliveries in the beginning of 2017, but also boost our development of a product specifically designed for performing BFR training on your whole leg.
We’re aiming to build a whole product range within the niche of BFR/occlusion training gear, so people from around the world can train faster and more efficiently and improve their physique.
Questions we’re asked
Does BFR training only work on the restricted area (locally) or can it have indirect effects on the rest of your body?
BFR training has a significant and direct effect on the restricted area, i.e. arm or leg. However, when strapping the BfR Pro ARMS around your arm and doing a chest or back workout, it will help fatigue your triceps and biceps quicker, which means that your primary target muscle groups in that workout (chest and back) will take over and become even more stimulated. In other words, it can assist you in working out the actual target muscle more effectively and thereby having an indirect effect on muscle growth and strength building.
Is performing blood flow restriction (BFR) dangerous?
As with any form of physical activity and supplement consumption you should consult your own doctor, if you are in doubt whether or not this is appropriate for you. Read more below under ‘Guidance’ about this matter.
Numerous academic studies over a long period of time have found BFR training to be beneficial for muscle and strength building for athletes of all kinds (amateurs and pros). The decrease in kilos necessary for maximum output allows many to improve their physical shape, despite smaller injuries or other weaknesses.
Risks and challenges
Our main priorities are quality products and happy customers and, while we don’t claim to be perfect, we are dedicated and persistent. If something isn’t working, we’ll work on it until it is.
Based on our personal product development and testing of our product over the past year, we are confident that we can deliver on our promise.
Based on this, we have estimated what we believe to be a realistic time frame for delivering on the products and quantities described for each rewards.
The product is simple to use, but is in fact not that simple to produce. However, we have quality control setup both on-site in the factory and at our end to ensure the highest quality possible is achieved before shipping the products to our backers primarily – and then the worldwide market.
We have three main areas of focus:
1. Communication - we undertake to keep you, our backers, updated throughout the campaign. This will include information on the progress of Kickstarter campaign and production and this will be posted on Kickstarter and via our social media channels. This transparency will keep our backers involved at all times.
2. Guidance – we want to help to bring awareness of the use of blood flow restriction (BFR)/occlusion training and how to perform this training method effectively as a complementary method to traditional training.
Many people have asked us about any side-effects and dangers of this training method. Our answers are based on up-to-date scientific research within the field, where many well-respected professors and PhDs have now carried out extensive research. The outcomes of their studies supports the beneficial effects of BFR training. However, people who have experienced heart diseases such as ischaemic heart disease, severe aortic stenosis, and hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy and also people with a history of stroke or other blood coagulation problems and hypertension should not engage in performing BFR training without consulting a doctor.
The use of any products from BfR Professional is at the risk of the user and no responsibility is taken by BfR Professional for any injuries or harm caused directly or indirectly from this use. Only use the product as instructed in the user manual on extremities being your arm or leg and within the time frame outlined of maximum 15-20 minutes of continuous applied pressure.
3. Foreign production – the use of foreign production can create challenges. The BfR Pro ARMS comes in four different sizes (S-XL) and once the campaign is over you will receive a so called "Backer Survey" from us where you need to choose the right size for you. Please check out the short video here on our campaign page where we show how to correctly measure your arm (below the shoulder but above your biceps/triceps).
In other words, the correct measure is NOT your regular arm size as this is not where you place the straps - makes sense?
We wanted you to have a product that fits you better both from a functionality and design point of view. Therefore, we created four different sizes to match the needs of most of us. According to our experience, the different sizes also helps the user apply the correct pressure since juggling with a 2 m long knee wrap and trying to applying an even pressure not really practical. Our humble opinion of course.
Don't worry. Once the campaign is over we will send our the Backer Survey where you can fill out your desired delivery address, size of the BfR Pro ARMS, and t-shirt size - of course depending on what reward you picked.
No, no you won't. And frankly, the joke is getting a bit old by now..
No, this product is only to be used on your arms - and calves should you wish to do so; however, latest scientific research suggests that once should perform BFR training as high on the limb as possible. With that said, previous studies have occluded below the knee and we have found no studies indicating that this should be harmful to you and your training.
Finally, we will be following up this Kickstater campaign with a new product to perform BFR training on your whole leg, so stay tuned for more on that! We are testing it right now and will soon be ready to move into production with it.
Good question: We will always advise you to take the larger size of the two since it will allow you to grow in the future, but more importantly because applying too low of a pressure will still benefit from a physiological standpoint as opposed to applying too high of a pressure (full occlusion).
We will be shipping to all our backers from our humble HQ in Denmark once we have reviewed and packed each and every product in order to ensure that what we send out is high quality. Depending on where you reside on this beautiful planet earth delivery will take anywhere from one day to two weeks, but more on that later.
Yes, of course! We have actually been using our own product for the past two years using ourselves as guinea pigs. The first lesson to product development must be to create a product that you would like to use yourself and that has been our philosophy all along.
