Bang! CrAsH! KABOOM! Hisssssss. Klaxons blare, the emergency lights flash red. The ship is under attack! The first blow has knocked several of your systems offline — or at least heavily damaged them, and you're losing oxygen fast. The captain and much of the crew are badly injured. It’s up to you and a few other brave souls to keep the ship intact… and to get yourselves out of this unfortunate situation. Do you have what it takes? Well you’d better, because the lives of everyone on board are in your hands!

All components shown are prototype only, and subject to change.
Damage Report is a modular, 2-6 player, simultaneous, real-time, co-operative game where the players take on the role of a starship crew faced with making split-second decisions to survive while in the midst of various catastrophes. Unlike many co-operative games, the simultaneous, real-time nature of the game helps prevent groupthink. This forces players to make decisions with minimal feedback and prevents one player from simply running the show. You never have to wait for other players to take their turn, and your turn is only limited to what you can accomplish in 15-, 30-, 45- or 60-second intervals. Check out an early draft of the rules here, on Board Game Geek.
Each player uses a timer to keep track of their time, moving the timer down a track based upon how long their turn interval is. In most scenarios, the turn interval is based upon the Life Support system status: the more damaged the system is, the less air the player has to "breathe." Each action is extended, as it takes more time to complete their turns.
Damage Report's modular board pieces ensure a brand new experience with each game scenario. Each scenario has its own success and failure conditions. The Standard Edition of the game includes three scenarios, however a number of additional scenarios will be included in the game based on the generosity of you, our backers. For future expansions, we are working on creating campaign scenarios that follow a specific ship along its path, with the scenarios played being influenced by each outcome of success or failure.
Here's a taste of what happens in the first scenarios included in the Standard Edition of Damage Report, and an image of the board setup in the prototype.
Scout Ship Neutrino in The Icarus Problem for 2-3 crew — The Neutrino is looking out for danger for the main fleet, when a cascading systems malfunction causes the Hyper Drive to go offline. The ship has come out of hyperspace too close to a large star, and the system continues to deteriorate, causing damage to other systems as well. Get those engines back online before the whole ship is pulled into the star!
The Pulsar in First Contact for 4-6 crew —While on a routine exploration mission, the Pulsar unknowingly wanders into alien territory. The aliens refuse to respond to communications, and they open fire immediately upon your inadvertent trespassing. The initial attack leaves many of your systems damaged. You and the other survivors have 45 minutes to either get the Hyper Drive back online so you can jump away, or to get Lasers functional and blow away that alien aggressor.
The Binary Star in A Miner Spot of Trouble for 5-6 crew — The Binary Star is returning from mining essential ice water when alerts sound throughout the ship. An asteroid has impacted the ship, knocking out shields and putting the cargo the crew has spent days collecting at risk. This challenging mission requires first clearing a path out of the asteroid field, and then restoring the Hyper Drive to escape. Don't lose the cargo, or else the mission was for naught!
Science Station Eclipse in Outbreak on the Edge of Space — While executives and dignitaries visit for the unveiling of new Bioforming technology, an unknown illness sweeps the station. Will the crew be able to stop the spread of the disease before this turns into a crisis? The crew must stay healthy, or else lose control of the station - but can you just let your people die?
The Solar Wind in Stranded! —The Solar Wind is returning to a resource-starved Earth carrying containers filled with much needed raw material. Suddenly — an energy spike in the ship's computers! The AI automatically brings the ship out of hyperspace, and the crew finds itself in a tense situation: the ship is losing energy — and fast. If the crew can't repair the Energy Core and get the ship moving, it's going to get quite cold and airless inside the ship.
Available only to Kickstarter Backers: This set of 2 characters and dashboards will add additional play options to any Damage Report Scenario.
Additionally, we will be including the promotional scenario Problems with Puffballs: A careless crewman has brought aboard an unapproved pet, and now the crew must deal with an infestation of adorable, purring balls of puff, before their rapidly multiplying numbers flood the ship.
