BEXFAST pots are vegan, sustainable, wholefood oat-based breakfast pots.
They're all handmade by me, Bex, at BEXFAST HQ in London.
There's a slight problem though.
At the moment, BEXFAST HQ is my kitchen at home. It's also breakfast, lunch, and dinner HQ... (and midnight snack HQ too) for me, my husband Jovel, and our daughter Tyler. BEXFAST has well and truly outgrown my kitchen.
It's getting a bit ridiculous - my house is 95% jars and boxes - I even have a fridge by my front door in the hallway!
I've made over 2500 pots this year so far, and the number is only going to increase. With £20,000, I'll be able to move into my own kitchen space, hire some REAL equipment and really make BEXFAST the best it can be.
When I was pregnant with my daughter Tyler, I was addicted to cake! I had convinced myself the cravings would stop once I gave birth, but they didn't. I made a pledge to myself to get properly healthy, cutting out all refined sugar and processed food. I started making the first versions of my BEXFAST pots and they took the sweet cravings away! People were asking for recipes, and eventually started asking if they could buy them off me. With just £20 worth of ingredients, I eventually started selling them at a friend's workout bootcamp on Saturday mornings before stocking a few in an independent health foods shop, and before I knew it I was doing deliveries all over London!
Just 6 months before Bexfast began I started to struggle with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. My arms and legs didn't work, I was exhausted all the time - I couldn't even pick up my daughter! I had read on a few blogs about how people with chronic fatigue live relatively normal lives by going completely plant-based... if it meant being able to walk and run, I had to give it a go. I saw a massive change in my health and never looked back!
Fast-forward to 2017, and I'm pitching BEXFAST to Levi Roots and Westfield Stratford City, winning 'London's Hottest Food Entrepreneur of the Year'! I won a one-month pop-up in Westfield Stratford City, and have since opened an online store to keep up with demand. It's amazing to see the momentum BEXFAST has gained since beginning.
With £20,000, I'll be able to:
- Move into a kitchen workspace
- Hire two members of part-time staff to help with the pots
- Buy a labelling machine, blenders, and other equipment
- Perform lab testing to find ways to naturally extend the shelf life of the product
The money will cover 6 months of rent and wages, allowing me to focus on building the BEXFAST brand and eventually stocking them in stores across London and beyond.
Last but not least, it will give my kitchen back to my family, and allow me to spend more time with the people I love.
We have some great rewards for your pledges so please check them out!
Everyone who has supported Bexfast from the beginning, I would never have had the confidence to do this without you, you guys are amazing.
My awesome little family who have put up with a house full of boxes with blenders going at all times of the night and emergency dashes across London to events, deliveries, picking up equipment etc.. I promise it will all be worth it in the end!
My crowdfunding team Matheus De Araujo Freitas and Nic Baines.. you guys are legendary and so much fun to work with. Thank you for all the work you have both put into this. You are now, and forever more, honourary Walkers haha.
Ashleigh Jadee for being the greatest videographer and making the impossible happen!
Risks and challenges
Launching a Kickstarter is always a risk if it doesn't succeed or deliver properly. I have been making my BEXFAST pots forever now, and I don't plan to stop! No number of orders will prevent me from getting it to your doors for Christmas.
I have a good relationship with a trusted courier to ensure everything will run smoothly, as well as some brilliant merchandise printers!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
