The Orb Can Talk!

1. Recap
Another great day, another spectacular show of support. Today’s top story has got to be when Mikkel, a young fan of the game, took it on himself to message the Vox of Gaming youtube channel, and actually get FORCED mentioned! Mikkel, it should also be said, was also half of the team that ran away with yesterday’s prize at the FORCED competition. We cannot even begin to describe our pride in fans like this! It is completely and utterly mind-boggling!

Some other honorable media mentions include IGF, Now Gamer, Softpedia, and Indie Game Mag. Indie Game Mag especially did a very nice article, which we all enjoyed reading.

2. Orb Voice
We want our bad-ass Orb to be the next companion cube! And we’re prepared to go above and beyond the call of duty, and give it a voice. So we began the search for an awesome Voice Actor in an “America Got Talent”-ish series of trials. Only the worthy persevered and they now stand before you in all their digital glory.
We’ve been incredibly blessed by having the talent of Tim on the project. In preparation for his audition, he even made up an entirely new tribal gibberish language (TGL as we call it), which the Orb could talk, when he is very happy or angry; as he is too excited to translate - a problem all of us with a non-native english speakers have encountered when speaking English. Check them at the bottom, also notice the Duke Nukem style (he's a ball of steel! :))
(We’ll of course be including all of these and many, many more in the Sound Track reward, which comes with the Etruscan tier+).

3. Paypal
We received some requests for an option to donate via paypal, and lo and behold, here it is! Just jump in via this nifty link[www.forcedthegame.com], and it should be readily apparent. We’ve also included this information in the FAQ.

And again thanks for all the support!!

This is a great idea, giving the orb personality will certainly make for a nice feature gimmick for the game. Love it!

Keep the updates coming, it's what will keep the fans chomping at the bit for more!

I suspect that a Jon St. John style personality for the Orb would turn it into the opposite of a Companion Cube and make a lot of people kind of recoil. Personally, I like the idea of the Orb perhaps having a Scandanavian accent and a bit of a sense of humor - but maybe not too clever of a sense of humor. Think more the observation orb in Portal 2 -- the one who is so incredibly eager to finally go to space. Except scandanavian. And eager for a chance to blow up or destroy someone.

@Jonas - That's a good idea, and one which has already been on the suggestion table out in the kitchen.
And we'll definitely see if we can make it work :) Thanks for feedback and the preview.

      @Justin - Unlockable voice ;)

@Justin - That was one of the most painful things I ever listened too.

I think he should sound like GIR from Invader Zim http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/260587

Couldn't it be possible to mix the two...? I would find it quite funny, if the orb spoke english most of the time, but then all of a sudden would turn in to the tribal-thing. Sort of like suffering from tourette syndrome.

Of course it depends on how serious the orbs needs to be, but I could imagine it being quite hilarious.

Good job with the game - hopefully it will be funded!

the first one is better but 20 seconds compare to 3... It's not a valid comparaison for me

    8. Creator BetaDwarf on October 24, 2012

True it requires some experimentation! :)
We'll probably post a clip when we have a gameplay example with audio. But thanks for feedback!

First recording is VERY COOL :-) I love it ...

first one sound acceptable but the other 2 were bad :/ but they might sound better in the game.
