Fantastic! Thanks very much for the update, Ben. So glad that you guys are still hard at it, I am really looking forward to seeing this film.

    2. Creator Marcel Stieber on February 6

I just got the following PM from Ben...*fingers crossed!*

      Hi Marcel,

A major update will be coming in less than a week.

      Thanks

      Ben Saks

    3. Creator Richard Szanti on February 6

Three years and counting, but I'm sure we're all waiting patiently. But I'm not sure how many I have left and there are probably quite a few more in the same boat. Is there any word on progress ?

    4. Creator John Barnhardt on January 29

Fellows - how about an update, please? Your very patient backers would sure like to know what is up. I am still hopeful I'll someday see this film and receive my kits but it gets harder to maintain an optimistic outlook after every update-less month. Let us know what happening.

    5. Creator Pablo Jaimovich on January 3

Yeah... well still not received the kit, and no answers to my emails... so after this long time.. loosing hope to see one day even the documental... :(

    6. Creator Marcel Stieber on November 5

How's it looking, Ben? Any updates? When can we expect this to release? (Or when can backers at least see a rough draft to know that something's happened in the last two years...?) The Facebook group has had no updates either since April. That's a long time...

    7. Creator Jake Palmer on April 8, 2014

An update on the film was posted to Facebook about a week ago. Unfortunately they didn't put that update here for the backers to see. They decided to continue filming and include the 2014 world champs which just concluded a few days ago. They expect to have an edit of the film done in the fall of this year, and it will go to film festivals in 2015. Backers will get a digital copy of the film as soon as it's done. Go to https://www.facebook.com/floatdocumentary for the video with more details.

      Hi Guys,

Updates, film status, kits and the project have gone dark for a considerable amount of time. This is leaving some of us supporters in limbo on a number of items. Please ping us individually or here as soon as possible. I have seen that many of the kits have gone out, but some of us have yet to receive further information or our kits.

Can you please not leave us "up in the air"?

      Thanks,
      Chris Adams

So guys, the film is now a year late. I fully understand that delays can happen, but it would be great to get an update about what's happening?

    10. Creator gabriel romeu on February 23, 2014

Still waiting for the film. Are there any updates?

    11. Creator John Barnhardt on January 16, 2014

Gentlemen - please provide an update of some sort. It would sure be nice to hear what is up with the movie, as well as to receive my other backer reward at some point. I put a lot of money into this project and would really appreciate some sort of update.

    12. Creator Matt Stultz on December 3, 2013

It only take a few min to send an update. You owe us that much.

    13. Creator Damien Milk on November 19, 2013

      Where are my promised goods?

    14. Creator Matt Stultz on October 16, 2013

Hey Ben, it's been nearly 2 months since I asked for an update and others have too. I see you are working on another business https://www.facebook.com/kerfcase. I would think you should get one project complete before you start another or at least not just ignore those who backed you.

    15. Creator John Barnhardt on August 22, 2013

Hey gents. Any updates on kit shipping or the film? Looking forward to seeing this before too long...

    16. Creator Matt Stultz on August 22, 2013

Any film updates? Two months ago we were told you were editing and prepping the film for fall film festivals and fall is going to be here quickly. I hope if the film is ready for festivals that we will get our digital copy in advance sine it's so late already.

    17. Creator Christopher Adams on July 8, 2013

Ben, Please contact by PM as I have not received the kits. thermaln2athotmail.com

    18. Creator Buck Stamps on April 20, 2013

I did not see this survey, but was a backer. Can you tell me what the status is? Have the videos been shipped?

    19. Creator Simon Egleton on February 8, 2013

Many thanks for the update on your film; am very excited to see it. If you have any work-in-progress screenings or events in the New York Area, I'd like to attend and be supportive.

    20. Creator John Barnhardt on February 7, 2013

Thanks so much for the update!

    21. Creator Simon Egleton on January 23, 2013

What is going on? Radio silence from this project, that I had high hopes for.

    22. Creator Craig Murphy on January 13, 2013

Any updates, are we getting our documentary next month ?

    23. Creator Matt Stultz on November 14, 2012

      Really would love an update!

    24. Creator ATTF on November 7, 2012

    25. Creator John Barnhardt on November 6, 2012

Gents - please provide an update at some point in the near future. Me and 230 of my backing friends would sure like to know how things are going. Hope the travels and video capture went well.

    26. Creator Brendan Arnold on October 5, 2012

Hi, could we get an update? Whilst it may be clear to you guys what is going on, we are also keen to hear about this project, it's been a couple of months now ...

    27. Creator John Barnhardt on September 26, 2012

      Anyone? Bueller?

    28. Creator John Barnhardt on September 19, 2012

Hey fellows. How's the footage collecting coming? Hope you're getting some good stuff. Would love to hear an update at some point soon.

    29. Creator Ben Saks on August 2, 2012

      Hi Jeff!

Thanks for the comment. We have made some pretty good plans, but being flexible and able to change plans is great. Rolling with the punches sometimes provides the best opportunities. More updates to come!

    30. Creator Jeff Short on August 2, 2012

Great adventure. Winging all over the globe without a lot of plans. Reminds me of my younger days in a USAF C5. Soak it all up. You will have the memories for the rest of your lives.

    31. Creator Mark Harrison on June 29, 2012

Hooray! I'm so looking forward to seeing the finished film!

    32. Creator Ben Saks on June 29, 2012

THANKS to all of our backers! We will keep you updated!

    33. Creator Lauren Rezac on June 29, 2012

      You made it CONGRADUALTIONS!!!!

    34. Creator Ben Saks on June 21, 2012

Thanks for the kind words Gareth!

    35. Creator Gareth Farrington on June 20, 2012

I really want to see you guys do this. I think that this is a microcosm of all of the aeronautical hobby and sport at this point. Its something that started many years ago now and cant compete with modern toys or video games unless you take the time to really dig into it.

F1D has a mix of old and young competitors and if you go to your local R/C flying field on any given Saturday you will see the same thing. The younger people want things to be new and different. The older people want things to be the same, familiar from their youth. I think competition is a great way to bring old and young people together. If something is new then competition is the best way to test if it is good. People with experience can beat new advanced materials or techniques because they can do a better job of building a finely tuned complete system. Its the complete package that wins contests, not a singular feature or technique.

Even if you don't make your goal, I hope you can still do something with the project. Sometimes the best thing to do is to just ship it.

We are at 93 backers! Thank you so much for your support. A special award will go to backer #100!
