I have been a worship pastor for the last 12 years. Chances are if you are reading this I have been your worship pastor at some point. Over the course of that time, I have had the privilege to work for churches in Orlando (FL), Palm Beach Gardens (FL), Lakeland (FL), and Andover (KS). What that means for me and my family is not only do we have friends scattered all over the state of Florida and southeast Kansas but we have pockets of friends that feel like family in each spot too. This is such a gift! We are so thankful for each and every person along the way. The bond we have in worship and community goes beyond something that can be broken by distance and time. We have sought the Lord together and seen him change lives, answer prayer, and show up in tangible ways during our times together. I am grateful for the Lord allowing me, and my family, to be a part of that and to be a part of your lives!
5 LOAVES AND 2 FISH:
2 years ago I was struggling with the weight of responsibilities at church and at home. I felt like I was failing in all areas. Around that time I had the chance to get away for a night to a fishing cabin in Kansas. I wanted to ask the Lord, "What do you think of me?" So I prayed, worshipped, and sought the Lord for the entire time I was there. About an hour before I had to leave and go home I was desperate to hear from the Lord. I was singing higher than any male should and just going for it in worship. Some squirrels probably thought I was super weird :). As I was worshipping, the Lord broke into my time and reminded me of something my mother in law told me before I left for the cabin. She said she was praying that the Lord would multiply my time like the widows oil in 2 Kings 4. Almost immediately the Lord shifted my focus to another story about multiplication. This time it was the story of Jesus feeding the 5,000, but more specifically the 5 loaves and the 2 fish. He then spoke to me that I was the 5 loaves and 2 fish. I was being asked to do something that was beyond me but the Lord knew that. It was not a matter of me striving more or pressing harder. He wanted me to bring Him what I had, and who I was, then he would bless it and make me enough for the task he was calling me to. It was awesome! I felt free and light. He spoke exactly what I needed to hear!
Fast forward to the present day; 4 months ago Callie and I moved our whole family to Georgia (a story for another time! One in which we hope to share about on our new podcast! Check it out on social media- "The Paraclete Podcast"!) The Lord, again began to bring up the 5 loaves and the 2 fish to us. First at my sisters church one Sunday, then again at a different church the following Sunday, at a worship night, then in an online sermon, at a Sunday evening service Callie attended, a couple weeks ago at a different church, and most recently at a worship conference in TN. That's 7 times since moving to Georgia that someone we were listening to used the 5 loaves and 2 fish as a reference in a talk or sermon! The Lord is making it pretty obvious during this time that he wants us to be aware of what we have to offer to Him and what He can do with what seems like a meager offering. I am not working at a church right now but what I do have to give is my time, my story, and a collection of songs I have been working on for a while. I know it doesn't seem like much but in the hands of the Lord, I know He will make it more than enough!
ABOUT THE ALBUM:
About a year ago I felt the Lord speak to me that the next album I do would be called "Psalms, Hymns, and Spiritual Songs" It was an idea based out of Colossians 3:16, "Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts."
So over the last year and a half not only have I been re-working hymns for my church but I have also been writing songs based out of the Psalms. Weirdly enough the songs came about in a variety of different ways and even before I knew what the album would be called. One song I wrote as an opener to a worship set based out of Psalm 121. Another song, a friend of mine sent me a verse and a bridge idea that reminded me of Psalm 139. As I read through that Psalm the Lord helped me finish the rest! A couple months later our pastor quoted a verse in passing during a sermon and again I felt the nudge from the Holy Spirit to write it down and see if a song would come of it later. When I looked up the verse the next morning, it was Psalm 46:10. So in a seemingly random way I had written several songs based out of the Psalms. I don't believe in random though, I know the Lord was preparing me for this album. These songs have been an encouragement to me and have deepened my relationship with the Lord and my understanding of Him. My prayer and hope is that they will do the same for you and whoever you share them with. Albums are like a snap shot of someone's life and this one chronicles mine and my families journey over the last year and a half.
WHAT I NEED:
A couple years ago I started at a worship school called 10,000 Fathers which is based out of Atlanta,GA. It was founded by worship leader, and recording artist, Aaron Keyes. When I was going through the school I developed a relationship with David Walker who records all of the 10,000 Father's albums and is a great worship leader, songwriter, and producer. I would love to record my first full length album with David, Aaron, and the 10,000 Fathers crew as they have the experience and expertise to help me make beautiful and impactful music. To record 10 songs with them and for all the costs associated with the project will be $20,000. Yes I know that's a BIG number but here is what it pays for:
-Hard Copy Distribution (CD's)
I will get to spend a week in the studio with very talented musicians and guys that have great hearts for the Lord! During that time we will bring these songs to life!
-THE BIG ASK!
Would you consider helping me record these songs and get them out to the world? Yes, it's my 5 loaves and 2 fish but I can't make it happen on my own. I need my family and friends to help me get this project off the ground! Will you please take some time and ask the Lord to help provide for this project? And would you please consider donating or buying your CD in advance in order to make this a reality for me? Also, will you pray for the impact of these songs and that the Lord would take them wherever they need to go? Thank you for visiting this page and for investing in this project. I hope that seeing God multiply my five loaves and two fish will encourage you to take a step of faith in an area you are being called to but maybe feel inadequate to accomplish. Remember all throughout scripture God works amazing miracles with small things (5 loaves and 2 fish, faith the size of a mustard seed, one small nation, one perfect man, 12 fisherman, and the list goes on!) Thank you for believing in what God can do through me and the songs he has given to me!
Risks and challenges
As soon as we get CD's we will get them out to all who give! I will also work with whoever gets the other rewards to set up a time to come to you before the end of the year.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
