Project Update 8/19/13

We received a of a comment from one of our backers named Jeff who made a good point:

"No offense, but do you expect your backers to spend ten minutes listening to excuses for why you haven't delivered on the project? Give us a simple, honest update in writing, and set a realistic expectation for what's going to be delivered--and when."

No offense taken Jeff and you're right--something quick and to the point via text is needed so if you want the long winded version with lots of explanation and detail watch the video here: for something short and sweet keep reading.

Q: Why haven't you finished the book yet?

A: We had expected the finish the book within 6 months after we conducted all of the interviews and did all of our traveling. Unfortunately, this didn't happen. Remember, both Ben and I are the only guys working on this project--Ben is the Photographer and I (Owen) am the writer. Constant interruption in our personal and professional lives (like Ben moving to New York City and I working 60 hours a week) were not anticipated when we created our original time line. We both apologize for that--it was bad planning on our part. We are continuing to use any free time we have to get this book into your hands.

Q: Will the book still be published?

A: Yes though we have been delayed much longer than we anticipated we haven't stopped working on it. We have both invested too much of our personal resources, time, and finances into this book to give it up. It will be published.

Q: When?!?!

A: Good question. The simple answer--we don't know. Owen has set a personal goal of having roughly 90% of the manuscript ready for editing by the end of August. If that goal is achieved we estimate the book will be printed just before Christmas 2013 hopefully with enough time to get it in the hands of donors before the holiday.

Q: Where can we see the status of the book?

A: We have created a webpage that has a detailed status of what is going on with the book down to the chapter and section. It is updated daily. You can keep an eye on it here:

Q: How can we contact you?

A: You can e-mail us at or you can even call Owen directly 24/7 at (646) 543-4394 and just say your first name when the machine asks you--the call will be forwarded to his personal cell.

Thank you for your continued support, patience, and understanding. We couldn't do this without you!

Project Video Update! 8/14/13

Hello to all you wonderful and patient supporters! I know we've maintained radio silence for far too long and you all are owed an update. I apologize for the delay in reporting back to you all...sometimes life gets in the way. I've since moved to NYC and Owen has just finished his college degree. I'll let Owen explain more in the video but suffice to say we are sorry for not keeping you all updated. In the video there is much good news shared as well as some new developments in how book is coming along. I hope you will all take the time to watch this video. You can reach Owen or I at any time at or Viva vinyl!
