About this project

Last May, I premiered my folk-opera, Lillian, to a sold-out crowd at Le Poisson Rouge in New York City. Since then, I've been working hard on the album. To celebrate it's completion (it's being released on March 1st), I am making a music video for the title track!

I have partnered with Gabe Cowen, a great friend and film maker, whose feature, "Growth," made it to #1 on the iTunes rentals chart for horror. Using his terrific crew, we plan to shoot for three days in Los Angeles over President's Day Weekend. In that time, we'll be dragging a bedroom down a closed road, diving off the side of a remote lighthouse, filming six, beautiful swimmers in front of a green screen in my parent's pool and doing all of this with a 3D rig designed by Paul Stec.

All the while, stop motion artists Dan Sakamoto and Rachel Lyons will be animating everything you see underwater. At the moment I dive into the ocean, we cut to underwater, a world of tactile layers. Paper, plastics, paint and pencils bring the open ocean to life. From below we watch animated swimmers dance and from above we see them in live-action.

We all know that film productions cost lot's of money. But the good news is, I've already raised over half the budget. Now, I am relying on you for the rest!

Once the video's complete, I will do all that is in my power to circulate it across the web, creating interest in Lillian and putting attention on the album. This is especially important because album sales will go in part to support the work of Plastic Pollution Coalition, whose championing an all out effort to refuse single use plastic.
