Don't you love time-lapse video clips just like us? But having to bring a laptop to control your camera? Naaah... not so much. That's why we created Shutterix - to make taking time-lapse photos easier than ever!!
Shutterix is a useful tool allowing you to control your digital camera with your smartphone. We offer a Shutterix cable, that you will need to plug in to your camera shutter cable jack, and your smartphone audio jack. And the rest, ... is pure magic. The Shutterix cable will be 1m in length.
It is designed to be so inconspicuous that you wouldn't even notice it in your camera bag, yet gives you all the functionalities you need when you need it.
Basically it gives you full control of your camera's FOCUS and SHUTTER. Moreover, you can define a sequence of actions, really ANY sequence of actions to help you do: time-lapse, HDR time-lapse, bulb-ramping, accelerating time-lapse.... really the possibilities are ENDLESS!
Short answer, iPhone and Android phones. The iPhone app is ready and we're working around the clock on the Android version. Of course you can also use iPad and Android tablets, as well as iPod Touch.

We plan to ship in just 3 weeks after the project is funded. The iPhone app will be available for download shortly before we ship. The Android app will be available in October.
The cost for the minimum order amount would be:
Further development $15,000
Shipping & Fulfillment $16,000
Marketing and contingency $15,000
We're creating a start-up based on this product and have put our own money on this project, but it isn't enough to cover all the costs. We need YOU to make this product a reality, and we would like YOU to shape our final product, so that it is truly a product defined by the community, for the community.

Does the app work with ANY cable that connects my camera to my smartphone?
Unfortunately, no. While it is possible to find cables that plug into a camera and a smartphone (typically 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter audio cables, if that's used as your camera trigger jack), Shutterix cables are carefully engineered to include embedded electronics. The Shutterix cable's communication protocol manages communication between your smartphone and your camera.
Can I control multiple cameras with Shutterix?
Yes. You can control multiple cameras with multiple Shutterix cables connected to a single smartphone. Simply use an audio splitter cable (also known as Y-cable) and plug in two Shutterix cable to control two cameras simultaneously. Theoretically you can use more than 1000 Shutterix cables simultaneously from a single smartphone, but your mileage may vary.
Does Shutterix draw power from my phone or camera? Does Shutterix drain my smartphone or camera battery faster?
Shutterix with its patent-pending design draws no power from your smartphone or your camera. Communication is based on audio signals so it drains the smartphone battery at the same rate as playing music.
I have a smartphone with EU volume limit. Is Shutterix for me?
Absolutely! Shutterix is designed to be compatible with EU volume limited smartphones.
What if someone phones or texts me?
If you don't want to be interrupted, put your phone into "airplane mode". Alternatively use an iPod Touch or a tablet.
Why don't you add _______ functionality? Why don't you make it bigger/smaller/longer/white/invisible?
We value your opinion! We believe that a good product should be designed by the community. In fact, Shutterix has already taken a lot of suggestions from the photographic community. Give us your suggestion and feedback on http://shutterix.com/contact/
I don't believe you!
Grow up :)
I want one NOW!!!!
There are a limited number of pre-production samples lying around, so if you work for any media or if you're a blogger, contact us for a review sample.
Since the advent of the internet, I don't pay for anything anymore!!
Any creative endeavour requires a lot of investment, including time and money. As you can see from the "Where would the funding go?" section, it costs a lot of money to kickstart the production and to fulfill the orders. It is your investment that make this product a reality.
However, if you're on a budget, or if you don't have a DSLR, or if you don't want to use it to control your DSLR, there's a FREE version of Shutterix (currently available for iPhone only) that lets you take time-lapse with your smartphone camera! Try it out!
Pffff, I can make something much better....
And I can jump to the moon.... Nah, now on a serious note, if you're the creative entrepreneurial type, and you feel that you can help make this better, join the startup as an early employee! It is always our goal to make our customers happy, so we don't let go of any chance to improve our products!
Yes. We support the entire range of Canon/Nikon/Pentax/Sony cameras, with the only exception of Nikon D70, D70s and D80.
Our cables are passive cables, which means that it does not harvest energy from your smartphone, therefore it is able to run much longer. Also you can completely control the AUTOFOCUS and SHUTTER on your camera, so it's great for tracking moving objects. Finally, the Android version will be as beautifully designed as the iPhone version!
