About this project
Benjamins Shoe Corporation is a shoe manufacturing and sales company based in California. Our founder, Benjamin Schwartz, studied shoemaking for two years before making his first pair by hand. Five years later, after making dozens of shoes and patterns, we sent our samples to a family-owned and operated factory with over 30 years experience in the footwear industry. They are now working with us on our first run.
We are currently going into production with our classic design made in mohair velvet and wool, but have plans for our second shoe, the Peacoat Double Monk, which will be added to our line in the near future. The photos included in our video are of working samples that were made by hand by our founder, which are very close to our final production model. We have created a design that we think is ahead of the curve, and has the ability to remain a classic for many years to come.
The money raised from Kickstarter will be going towards the creation of custom lasts (shoe forms) for our line, as well as materials sourcing and production costs. Our factory ONLY works with people providing financial and health benefits, NO under-age workers or child labor. Our production quality is some of the best available and we use construction methods that are new and difficult to find. We are excited for what's ahead, and will post photos and updates along the way.
Below are photos of our rewards. Please keep in mind that photos are of our samples and while they are very close to the final product, colors and materials may vary slightly.
We were tired of spending money on a quality pair of shoes and opening the box only to find they've arrived in a really poor quality shoe bag. Ours is handmade out of 100% linen. You can wash it, travel with it, carry your lunch to work in it, and our Kickstarter campaign gives you the opportunity to snag a bunch of them at a great price so you can throw out all of the sub-par shoe bags currently hanging out in the back of your closet.
A shoe horn always comes in handy. Stash one of ours in the office for when you need to slip into your new pair of BENJAMINS.
Our mohair velvet classic BENJAMINS shoe is our first run model and will be the shoe you will receive if purchased here on Kickstarter. We will be producing this shoe in three colors, navy, dark green, and chocolate brown. They feature quilted silk lining and leather foxing (trim). You will be able to specify which color you want before they are shipped. These will retail for $149.99 but you can get them on Kickstarter for $75, or $145 for two pairs! We will be producing them in MEN'S AND WOMEN'S SIZES.
The Peacoat Double Monk comes in wool and features brown leather foxing and working gold-crested blazer buttons. This is our second run shoe and won't be available for a bit longer, but you can buy one before they are released during our Kickstarter campaign. The outer of this shoe is one piece, and also features quilted silk lining.
For our backers who want the whole package, you can purchase 1 of 10 of our limited top-tier rewards and in addition to our other rewards you'll be receiving a high-end automatic bill counter with BENJAMINS branding and UV counterfeit bill detection.
We have gone back to the roots of shoemaking as a craft, and taken select advances made in footwear over the last 200 years to create a shoe that speaks to the future, while respecting the past. Toe boxes and cork-filled midsoles are construction methods normally reserved for high-end dress shoes that we are building in to our modest design. Quilted silk lining has been used on men’s dress slippers since the Victorian era, when they were named after Prince Albert. People have since forgotten about this detail, but we include it as homage to the past, and because of the luxurious quality it lends.
Our team is passionate about our product, and believes in our ability to become a successful new brand in the footwear industry. Thanks for your feedback and support!

Risks and challenges
Once we are able to meet our goal the production process will be under way. We will be filing all of our shipping docs and expect everything to run very smoothly, as it has all been meticulously planned out.
If any issues arise during the production process (delays, design problems or changes, shipment disasters) we will contact our backers immediately. In the rare case this happens it may delay delivery dates, but all product should still be delivered exactly as promised.
Have a question? If the info above doesn't help, you can ask the project creator directly.
