One last Zboard available here:
Head over to http://www.zboardforum.com, make a profile, and introduce yourself.
+Tim - yes, a zboard owner's forum is desperately needed. Please create one.
Is there a ZBoard owners' forum anywhere? If not, would anyone have interest in participating in one if I created something like that somewhere?
Thanks to everyone for the continued support. We had a crazy CES which included ZBoard rides by big shots such as Guy Kawasaki and Tony Hsieh and features on CNN, NBC and the Wall Street Journal (!).
Check out our blog for more, along with the rules of our new video contest!
Note: I'll be making a Kickstarter update with a lot of the same info you see in the blog. I recommend that you subscribe to our website's newsletter (bottom right corner of our website) as our Kickstarter Project comes to a close.
I am selling my Zboard Pro. It's as cool as what you've read. I just don't think I'll be able to use it the way I envisioned. Please contact me if you're interested in purchasing: http://austin.craigslist.org/bik/3546794383.html . I have all the original packaging and can ship to you for an extra $50 (or actual shipping cost, whichever is less).
Willis, I use one of these:
Ben, just read where you won first place at the CES Showstoppers launch event. I don't have a very good link, it just mentions it real quick.
But congrats. You guys deserve it. Still love my ZBoard.
SoldierKnowsBest just made a CES 2013 review of the Zboard. At this moment he has 447,399 subscribers. good publicity
Just saw the Zboard on TV Hot Gadgets
Do you have any instruction on how to change the motor belt?
I'm selling my Pro: http://newyork.craigslist.org/mnh/spo/3526339722.html
@Billy: I will try.
@Max: do it.
@Ben: the one bouncing inside the motor belt was one of the four screws that hold the motor. I did took it out, since I need to get something to hold it up.
Willis, that bolt is designed to be shorter than the rest. I can't quite tell from the picture if it rattled through or is still there. If a bolt is bouncing around inside the motor belt housing its most likely one of the 5mm screws that hold the motor on. Best thing to do is remove the cover plate (3mm) and then replace the 5mm screw with some loc-tite. PS the tail guard is sweet.
wanna make a youtube video for the zboard community to show exactly how to do it or step by step directions and exactly what parts to use
Take the caps off the ends of the nuts or replace them with regular skateboard bolts (nylocks), as well add an extra layer of padding (about an inch or so wide) around the battery box and then tighten it up real nice just to stop it from vibrating sooo much...Thats what I did
Are you sure there was a bolt there in the first place? I don't have one either. Everything is tight and the screw appears to have been purposely set flush.
A simple advice to everybody: check your bolts and screws regularly, and thigh them up. Today I lost a bolt on my way home (see pic http://goo.gl/EMs53 ) and the motor wheel got stocked. I end up walking 1.5miles pulling the Zboard. Obviously this is normal due to the vibrations.
Thanks for the pic, Willis. The guard looks great. I think I might get one. I've been pretty rough on my board so far.
I found a simple tool lanyard on Amazon for less than $10 to use to tow my Zboard and tied a bandana around the handle of the Z for comfortable carrying. Both are working out great so far.
Ben- I would tie a wall to the facebook page where many of us are already used to checking in. Great idea, glad to be a part of the ZBoard Community!
Rock on! Billy.
My is a black Dog collar with a climbers hook (for easy attach).
Looks good Willis check out my Hitch Handle I made in my pic
For those whom are using the Zboard in an urban environment, is this Kickstarter a good idea?
it looks to me that it will be helpful to have one in hand in a traffic like the one in New York City.
@Jim check the pic of the Tail Guard installed.
Gonna' sound like a dumbass here, but why should the internet be dfferent from real life? Remind me again how that hitch works? How do you use it? Just find something to loop through it and hold onto?
By the way, that's another good find Wllis, I notice they have one just for longbboards. That's pretty cool. I'm considering getting it. Do you have a close up pic of how it looks on yours?
This may be useful for some: I found my self scratching the Zboard nose when I'm pulling it using the rear hook. So I installed a Tail Guard by Surfco Hawaii in the nose of the Zboard. http://www.amazon.com/Surfco-Hawaii-Surfboard-Tailguard/dp/B000A2BI90/ref=sr_1_1….
It is working pretty well so far.
That's a good idea, Ben. It's been fun just coming here and checking the messages. I have no preference as to where. If it's on Facebook, I'd just have to create an account. I do have questions on how best to store an extra battery long term. Any ideas?
Nathan, $300, and Jim - Thanks! We love hearing from our backers. We've been throwing around some ideas about how best to continue the ZBoard conversation as this project closes. We've been considering a private forum, private Facebook Group (with a wall like this), and some other options. The idea would be to have a place where ZBoard owners could discuss likes and dislikes, share pictures, propose new features, etc. Where would you prefer this conversation to shift to?
Anyone else in Austin? I wanna have a ZBoard race :p
Just wanted to say it was WELL worth the wait. This thing is so much fun to ride. Probably the best purchase I made this year!
WOW just got the 2 Zboards I ordered and all I can say is amazing!! For the first run I think this thing is perfect!! I am so glad it took a little longer to make this thing as sweet as it is. I could go on and on really is good to see something meet or go above what you think it will be.
Interesting article about the top 50 Kickstarter Projects, including the Z:
Patty, can you send us an email to email@example.com? We likely have the wrong one on file for you, or our emails are going to your spam folder. Glad you got your board though!
Smell? Maybe a little sarcasm I think on Tim's behalf....perhaps
just received my zboard, nice surprise because i had no clue my board was on its way. never received an email from fed ex. Can't wait for my first ride!!!
David - We're not selling additional Pro chargers at this point in time. We may add them to our store in the new year.
Willis, Billy - We'll be adding extra drive wheels, belts, and other accessories to our website in the coming weeks.
Billy, Jim, Tim - This is the first we've heard about the smell. Maybe we're just so used to it, or maybe it dissipates in our large warehouse. I imagine it will reduce in potency over time, as the outermost layers of the tires wear through.
@Tim I put my board outside for the first week or so to let it air out. I have a small place and I couldn't handle the smell.
I just noticed mine was pretty flat too, so I just rotated them. The cog came out fairly easy and I popped a bearing out of another and it fits perfect and put the flat one up front.
Has ayone else noticed how good this thing smells? Can you bottle up that scent and sell Zmellsgood?
Very happy with my Zboard guys, thanks again. I assume once all of the preorders are shipped, the zboard shop will start to have accessories for purchase? Wheels, chargers, batteries, handles, etc...
Just wanted to say I asked Ben for some status on my board cause I never got a email (think went to junk folder) But within like a hour he got back to and had my boards shipped out that same day!! Now that is customer service right there!! They really care about the backers.
Thanks so much Ben
This may help Reducing Rattling Sounds also. But keeping the washer installed.
I pulled the long black metal washer off (http://www.zboardshop.com/pages/drivewheelwasher), and added a bit of silicon grease (is thick and water resistant).
I did this four days ago and the sound is barely there.
It's here! I can't get over the build quality, it is solid and heavy. Check out a pic: http://twitter.com/SamTayyari/status/279714788974682113/photo/1
Charging now, can't wait to ride, this was worth waiting for!!
ohh! Billy! I almost forgot. Check out my avatar pic.
Thank you Billy!
I found this store from UK too, http://www.rokitscience.co.uk , but I don't have good experiences shopping from overseas. This is why I prefer buying things from the US market.
to Ben: in the same website above, they sell 800W motors ( http://www.rokitscience.co.uk/online_store/electric_skateboard_replacement_motor_800w.cfm ), is something like this compatible with the Zboard electronics?
I find my self pushing the Zboard to the max and wanting more power here and there.
Check out my front foot pad in the pic<
I found this 1 but it's in the UK fastestelectricskateboard I've never ordered from there personally but they do have some gear that looks like it would work.
Hello! my name is Willis Gomez and I'm a ZBoard addict!
anyway, my question is this:
I'm using the ZBoard for my daily commute(6+miles). I just notice that the wheel that pushes the board is starting to wear (not just a little bit). And I have the ZBoard for just 2 weeks now.
Is there another type of wheels available in the market that can fit the Zboard?
do you guys are going to sale wheels in your website?
Hi Gents; Thanks for getting my tracking number to me. I was wondering if it was possible to buy a 220 V charger so I can have one for home and one to travel with me just encase I run the battery down. I just looked in the store and did not find one there.
Everyone who funded this project gave you their email for the Zboard kickstarter use and to help you guys contact us it is not right to give out our emails to anyone else the only people that should be contacting us is the Zboard page or email not someone who we did not give our email to.
I'm glad to hear it Austin! I look forward to it. It's a shame that the Translogic video is the only read video on the zboard. No one has really reviewed it or gone into detail.
Tim: Oooh, good to know too. I was wondering about that email.
I'm a little sad I won't have it by Christmas, seeing as I'm the second to last backer, but excited nonetheless.
