Great idea, I like the idea of reusing old tech, but also the extended range using cellular. However, would you need to have an active contract? I think if that were the case, you could just bill it as using your current cell phone and not an old phone. Anyway, very interested in seeing this project. You might want to check out the Anura quadcopter... It's got the small form factor and right pricing. They might be someone you want to work with because of their experience with quadcopters.

Thanks JEL, updates for BEMO° will be posted at www.bemo.io

I have another concept for a quadcopter - personal delivery drone. This is where we utilize Android and iOS devices with a quad copter kit to create a personal drone that can deliver items to friends, take aerial photos, videos, survey land, monitor your property and so forth.

Just envision a quadcopter with a cradle that holds the older smartphone. The smartphone would provide the GPS and cellular communication links which would provide for command, control or fully autonomous delivery hundreds (or thousands) of miles away.

With android and iOS devices, you already have the integrated camera, communication and location services built into the device and you don’t have worry about the FCC limitations on your R/C transmitters or radio communications.

Anyone interested in this idea or anyone with relevant experience, skills or sponsors can always connect with me to help move this idea forward.

      Jeff

This is a really great idea - I'm not sure why it is not funding. @Creator, perhaps rebranding or changing the strategy would be a good idea. I believe in your product and I think it's a great way to recycle phones. Perhaps consider cancelling the campaign? I believe if you cancel, you can restart at a later point, but if it doesn't fund, then you can't repost the same campaign. Might be a good idea to look into this and maybe restart with a lower goal, or reconsider marketing? Just trying to be constructive - thanks!

Hi Stephen, that is a great idea but I would not expect this functionality in the near term.

Hi, I'm in UK and have a wireless Drayton 433Mhz programmable thermostat, Could your system speak to my receiver? I have already built a hybrid Rpi/Arduino 433transmitting thermostat so I know it's possible. Also to be really useful it would need to support multiple room thermostats and wireless radiator valves. Something along the lines of the eQ-3 MAX! Wireless Radiator Thermostat.

Thanks Sherra for posting the question and I am glad that you were able to figure out. I will still go ahead and post a response for others who might have the same question.
There is a wire that comes out of the Bemo unit that will charge your device.

Really awesome idea. How does the phone stay charged?
