Our project is launching a pilot brewing system as the Bemidji Brewing Company in Bemidji, MN. Following the lean start up approach, we hope to start our brewery with a pilot system capable of producing approximately 25 gallon batches, basically enough beer to supply 1-2 bar accounts in Bemidji. This system will be comprised of all the brewing kettles, fermentation vessels, and kegging equipment necessary to fulfill this initial demand. With our beer on the market, and concrete sales and demand information, Bemidji Brewing will then be poised to make the jump to full-fledged production brewery. A pilot brewing system is the first step towards our larger goal of providing Bemidji and Northern Minnesota with fresh, local craft beer.
Craft beer is booming in Minnesota, primarily around the Twin Cities.
What about the Northwoods? We deserve fresh, local craft beer too!
Minnesota has seen an exciting surge in new breweries throughout the last five years, but we are still far behind much of the nation. Compared to other states, Minnesota has very few breweries per capita. For example, Colorado and Minnesota's populations are nearly identical. However, Minnesota has just 28 breweries while Colorado enjoys 118 breweries.
Within Minnesota, the majority of craft beer is centered around the Twin Cities and Duluth, while much of Northern Minnesota has limited access to local, fresh beer.
Northern Minnesota deserves great craft beer that is produced locally.
We at Bemidji Brewing Co. aim to provide a great beer experience.
We believe beer should be a social experience that brings a community together.
Our favorite beer memories are directly related to our environment. The people, the conversation, the food, and of course the addition of a well-made, fresh beer adds so much to the experience. We want to help create those memories with our beer. Our brewing philosophy is centered around balance: producing beers that are complex through their simplicity. We embrace the idea of the session beer; a low-to-moderate alcohol beer that has just as much flavor and complexity as its higher-alcohol cousins. That being said, we do believe that there is an occasion for every style of beer. From the warmest afternoon spent out on the lake, to the cool crispness of short, grey autumn days, to the most frigid winter nights spent next to a cozy fire: beer compliments great food and great company in many occasions.
We look forward to sharing our beers with you!
