[Psycho Babble] Volume 2 (Canceled)
A Crazy Fantasy World? Check. Animals on the run? Check. Malicious Gods hell bent on killing said animals? Check. [Rated 13+]
Hello everybody! With how successful Chapter 1 has been (and the webcomic overall), we have decided to bring [Psycho Babble] to KickStarter!
The story of [Psycho Babble] is a story that will span well over five-hundred pages. It takes place in a world parallel to ours, where humans are exiled and animals thrive.
[Psycho Babble] follows a rooster named Greyson Boch and a lizard named Oliver Cauldwell who were sent to prison. Little do they know that prison is the least of their worries, as a malicious God has plans involving them.
Eventually they will join many other animals along the way, including Braxton the monster, and Pepper Quorn, the fruit deer that is introduced in Volume 2!
[WAIT... SO THIS IS ISSUE 2, WHAT IF I NEED TO READ ISSUE 1??]
Well you're in luck! We have some bundles below where you can get Volume 1 as well!
***We also have brand new, never-before-seen KickStarter exclusive variant covers for both Chapters 1 and 2!***
[SO WHAT ARE THE GOODS??]
That's a great question!
The main item, of course, is the comic! Each volume is roughly 60-70 pages (maybe more to be added depending on the success of the kick starter!), full color and ad free!
We have everything from the comics themselves to variant comics, merch like buttons and prints, and there is even a tier where you can ask for a commission! At the very top tier, we will help you create a character and put it right in the comic! They will have a speaking cameo which is pretty cool!
Let's do a little break down:
Wow! That's a lot of goods!
There is also the super crazy GOD BUNDLE!
And on the off chance we get lucky, there will be some cool stretch goals to come:
[OKAY, WELL THAT'S COOL AND ALL-- BUT WHERE'S MY COLD HARD CASH GOING?]
Comics are awesome, especially colored ones, but with added color comes added cost! We love writing and illustrating our comic, and above all, we love sharing it with everyone! But it is extremely hard to keep comics in stock when every time it comes to buying more, it can be hundreds of dollars right out of your pocket (for a small run)!
Our goal to start off with is enough to get us 300 copies! If the goal is achieved and keeps growing, so will the rewards on ALL TIERS! Below is a breakdown of where all the money will be going.
[SO. WHO EXACTLY IS BEETLEMILK PUBLISHING?]
[Beetle Milk] Publishing consists of a husband + wife powerhouse team: Devin and Tatiana McCrea! They met in college, where Tatiana [Who goes by Fishe in the art world] was going for Animation, and Devin [Sharke in the art world] was going for Audio Production. Devin approached her about a tattoo commission and BOOM! Love.
Over the course of their time together, they encountered many trials. One of the most important was Tatiana's ejection from college for financial reasons. This crushed her, and she stopped doing art entirely. After a few months passed, Devin began to nudge her more towards doing art again, and she was initially resistant to all but one idea: They make art together. The next night, Tatiana pulled out a sketch book dating back to high school, detailing a world where cats were gods and animals ruled. This place was Sunflow, and together they got to work.
The first page [in which Greyson was arrested for a drunken barfight, instead of the beginning that would later become canon with Red] took days of planning. Frame by frame.
The next few pages took less time. By the end of Chapter One, they were rocking and rolling. Pages take about four hours today.
Today, Devin and Tatiana look back on those days with a little bit of wistfulness but they are just glad they survived. The comic has grown and grown and they finally took the steps to bring it to the physical world and the response has been overwhelming!
Thank you to everyone that has supported our crazy dreams.
Risks and challenges
This is [Beetle Milk] Publishing's very first kickstarter! We are very excited, but we are also very aware of the challenges that come with it.
From a distribution and production point of view, we are looking great. We self released Volume One and learned a ton of lessons from doing that. We have a company that we like to use for our books (and for our plastic sleeves and our shipping envelopes - it goes on), figured out international shipping, and got a handle on fulfillment - from our living room. We are well prepared and approach this with a professional attitude.
The only challenge that really remains is a massive rollout - say all three hundred copies are ordered in one day. A guy can dream, right? In this case we would most likely do a gradual rollout over the course of a few weeks to offset the absolute insanity that is involved with taking a gazillion packages to the post office.
As far as risks, there really aren't any. Our production pipeline is already set up, we just need the funds to push it all through.
In addition, we do serious QA on our comics before they ship. Nobody is getting a comic that looks messed up. The company we work with does a great job and we check anyway.
We have prepared ourselves in the best way that we can from getting previews of the comics before hand, and using the same company to get the same great results every time! We inspect every comic for quality before it ever going out to our lovely customers!
