The Seekers - Origination
These two dragons, The Seekers, found one another a few years ago, after they crossed paths in the star-speckled skies.
These dragons first appeared on my wedding invitations. Originally, just as one dragon... drawn in ink on a watercolor background.
The RSVP cards, however, had the pair of dragons that have been seen ever since. I took the original dragon shape into a digital art program and used it as a "cookie-cutter" on the watercolor portion of the actual invitations. Thus, both the shape and color of the dragons came from my this project. I then flipped one of the dragons (voila!) and the pair of them appeared as the RSVP backdrop - coming to life for the first time.
The Seekers - Renewal
They have been with me for some time, now, as my de-facto logo on social media accounts and even as my branding on resumes and portfolios. While I have loved them in each of these incarnations, I've wanted to continue their story and create more with them.
So... for Kickstarter's #make100, I felt this would be a great time to dust them off and let them fly among the stars again.
Between them are the Constellations of Draco and that of Serpens (caput). Draco was an obvious choice as the 'dragon' constellation. Serpens also made sense as dragons are often referred to as large serpents depending on the culture in which they're found.
it is worth noting that Serpens is actually 2 constellations that do not connect: the head (caput) and the tail (cauda). Between them is the constellation of Ophiuchus (the "serpent-bearer").
The Seekers - Propagation
First, I want to say Thank You for reading this far and being interested to see my project. Any and all support is most appreciated as I try to make this project a reality.
Quick note on Add-Ons: Now that the Stretch Goal for Stickers are unlocked, you may add then to your reward by increasing your pledge in $2 increments for each additional sticker you would like.
Once we reach the Stretch Goal for Magnets, you will be able to add them to your reward by increasing your pledge by $3 for reach additional magnet you would like (or $5 for a sticker/magnet pair).
The Reward Tiers are as follows:
Again, thank you so much for all of your support.
Risks and challenges
Risks involved in this project mostly revolve around the timing of acquiring the prints/pins. This is not the first Kickstarter that I've been involved in, but it IS the first that I've been running entirely by myself.
I know that the packaging and mailing of rewards is likely to take longer than I expect, which is why my delivery date is in April of this year. My goal is to actually get everything shipped out by the end of March, but I wanted to allow a month of buffer-time in case things don't go as planned.
Aside from these items, the biggest risk I see is simply that it doesn't get funded. I know that my current audience is rather small, but I wanted to launch the Kickstarter regardless.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
