Thank you so much to everyone who has pledged, as we have just met our funding goal! We are rather taken aback by the huge outpouring of support we have received. At this point, we have over two months to spare, but we are still pushing for further donations.
The 5000 dollars we've raised so far is to print and ship 1000 books to Virginia, as well as offset the 5% cost from Kickstarter and credit card fees from Amazon.
If we get to 7000 dollars, it means we will be able to print 2000 books, which brings the overall cost per book down significantly. This means we can send out more copies to magazines and newspapers to promote the book, as well as solicit more copies directly to stores. We'd also love to be able to get some books in libraries around the world.
REASONS (FOR YOU) TO STILL DONATE
This is pretty much the cheapest way to receive the book. Effectively the shipping is free and autographed/sketched in copies are likely to cost more in the future. Once the Kickstarter concludes, there will be a definite gap in book availability. So if you want it in your hands before the rest of the world, the only way to make that happen is to pledge at least 15 dollars!
Also it is still the only way to receive the exclusive non-Tigerbuttah mini-comic Little Beaky. Pledge today!
THE OLD BRIEF
We still need your help to print our story-book!
Tiny Kitten Teeth is a one-year old hand-painted webcomic by five-year creative partners Frank Gibson (that's the guy writing this) and Becky Dreistadt. Becky, originally from Virginia, currently lives with me in New Zealand. I'm very lucky!
We are raising funds to print our all new 24-page story-book featuring Tigerbuttah, the mascot character from our comic. For more Tigerbuttah paintings, check out the comic. The donations will be used to pay the printer.
The Tigerbuttah book will be printed on the same press used to make Little Golden Books, which have been a fixture of youth for generations as well as a generally unsung creative influence on so many illustrators, animators and artists.
It will have the same familiar hard-board cover with metallic strip (ours will be silver due to certain copyright restrictions). Just like the classics it will be hand-painted in gouache.
This book is something for comic readers and illustration aficionados alike, as well as a gift for the discerning child.
A LITTLE BACKGROUND
During our partnership we've worked on three webcomics, appeared in numerous print anthologies, self-published three comic books, appeared as part of a number of group gallery shows and attended comic conventions all around the world.
