Pre-release pixel-art game-play trailer(I love hyphens, I wish I could place them in-between every single letter)
Play Ailment BETA version now:
So let's go guys! Here is the story:
I had no clue about programming(apart maybe Turbo Pascal 7 at the high school) 2 months before starting working on this game. What I also had no clue about - it's how to draw and especially animate in pixel-art style. But I had strong feeling I can manage it! So I've started to learn! 2 months... Promise you! Udemy and Youtube helped A LOT!
Look at this guy! It's John! I was virgin in Pixel-art before! And now I want to hug him!
So let's continue: I was familiar with Unity3d(the one they use to make games, you heard right?) engine a little bit, cause I'm CG artist for 12 years already more or less, so I've decided to learn programming in Unity using C# .
And have a look at this cuteeee
Gooooosh it was hard for me! BUT! There's always "but"... I've managed! So I've created the dramatic story, made a script for the game, asked a friend to edit it, and started making Ailment. I was working every single day non-stop!
3 months after you know what happened? Of course! I burned out!
Exactly like that...
The game was finished for 60% I guess. It was August 2017. I took a small break...
...until now! Yeah yeah I know it's 2019...
At the moment it's done for 90% I'd say, I need to polish it, test it, add features, sounds, music and then of course some promotion and then publishing!
Enough empty talks!
I might also port it to PC if by miracle funding goes x2. Future will tell!
Here is what the game is about: The game starts in the med-bay of the spaceship where main character just woke up after being unconscious. And the last thing he remembers was returning from the other spaceship where he had a rescue mission. But everybody on that ship was already dead...
And now he needs to find out what happened...
You're going to be a part of dramatic story when one man trying to find the truth... bla-bla-bla...
But honestly! There'll be such a cool twist!
And this guy talks non-stop!
I've worked on pretty big weapon variations that will help you in your "journey". Pixel-art style graphics combined with atmospheric lighting will create dramatic mood to make your experience more engaging. Promise ya!
- Tons of different weapon
- Easter eggs on every level
- Brutal animations
- Always talking character
- Pixel art graphics
- Atmospheric sound effects
- Dramatic surrounding
- Exciting story behind!
- Hours of dynamic game-play
- Ability to bring NPC-partners with you
And many others!
Those phrases he says can be one of yours!(Check again rewards!)
Just look at some GIFs I've made :
Sometimes he's funny, sometimes - not...
Sometimes he's damn scared!
But very often he's dead...
And more GIFs!
And also sometimes he gets some help from companions!
So you see now! This time I'm ready to finish it, but here is where you're coming in!
I need your help here, cause I don't think I'm able to write a music for the game... don't think YouTube will help here. Also testing is very important! I'd like to ask some strangers, and I'm sure they have better things to do then help me for free. Another thing is testing it on iOS devices, which I don't have at all, so I'd like to use some second-hand one, which also goes into the budget. And finally promotion, that what eats coins too. I'm not looking for a huge sponsorship, you can see that in the right top corner of the page.
The only thing I really want is to make this game see the world and world to play it!
Counting on you guys! And of course you won't leave with empty pockets too! Check the rewards!
Follow me here guys:
And finally I also will really appreciate if you follow the project and share it with your friends and friends of you friends!
Risks and challenges
Working on my own on this project is always a risk that the deadline might be moved. But I took this deadline in advance cause the game is almost done.
Another thing is I had to spend some money for creating the music for the game to make it more atmospheric. I am trying to spread it out by myself but some minor costs will also go for the promotion campaign. Also I'll need some more extra costs to make it tested properly.
